There is a great line from the movie Dark Knight-  "You Either Die a Hero, or You Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become the Villain"


Make that- "you either retire a hero, or you work long enough to see yourself become the villain."

Now you have the story of Belichik's GOAT career as a head coach.

The players feel that Bill Belichick was rarely willing to listen to the locker room (31st overall)


I have to wonder how valuable player input is to a genius coach who was winning Super Bowl rings (as a DC) before all of them were even born.  As for the time, when you don't listen to the players, you are bound to have them be less happy with you and your decisions.


Now, it's also possible that en route to all those Super Bowl victories, Belichick picked up some bad habits (in terms of how he treats his players) that he could get away with when he was winning.  It's also possible that he is too old school for today's athletes.

This might explain why the Bill Belichick coaching tree is underwhelming, considering BB's track record.  The head coach who came in last (among his players) was a Belichick discipline- Josh McDaniels
