Who would you prefer at 6? Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze

Looking at PFF it is clear that there are 3 WRs that are WR1s. Yes, this seems to be a deep draft at the WR position, but that doesn't mean the rest of the group is at the level of the top 3. We have nothing that scares defensive coaches in the NFL as of now. If we were to take a top WR and assuming Harrison Jr is gone, who would you prefer the Giants select with the 6th pick?

Nabers' movement skills are rare, even at the NFL level. His ability to change direction yet continue to accelerate makes him an open-target specialist in the slot and on the outside. He has the kind of athleticism that demands a defense to know where he is at all times as a future WR1.



3. WR ROME ODUNZE, WASHINGTON
PFF BIG BOARD RANK: 6
In an offense filled with future NFL players at the skill positions, Odunze was the best of the bunch. If he weren't in a class with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers, we would be talking about him as an easy WR1 and a player worthy of a top-10 pick, although the latter is still true for 2024.



So, on the big board, both men are 4th and 6th in the entire draft. I myself like Rome Odunze for his size,6'3" and 212lbs his forty time 4.45 and his ALL SCOUTS average is 9.4


I like Malik Nabers for his explosive YAC ability. He is 6' even and 200lbs and his forty time is 4.0 and his ALL SCOUTS average is 7.2 and that makes me wonder why the majority of all scouts combined seem to like Rome Odunze more?

If we take either of these players, it means we're not drafting a QB (at least not with our first pick), which means we're going with Jones again, at least for the time being.

Jones' biggest supporters, when listing reasons why he has continued to be so glaringly unproductive on the field, have often claimed he never has anyone open. I know there has been a growing recent movement here to portray Nabers as some sort of arch-criminal despite no convincing evidence of that, but one thing I know about him for sure is that he can separate at an elite level. If anyone can get open enough for Jones to see him and throw it to him, it's this guy. So he probably makes more sense than Odunze, who is fast but more of a physical, 50/50 ball, back shoulder type guy. We have already tried these types with Jones (Golladay, Waller), and it hasn't worked out. He seems to need guys to be wide open with nobody near them. I think Nabers probably has the best chance of fitting that sort of profile.

All i know is Rome played against Jaylon Johnson, Christian Gonzalez,Jack Jones and lined up against trent Mcduffie in college practices and played against all-pros in college

So much is being made of these three receivers. Quite frankly, I won't be surprised if all three are excellent NFL receivers. My guess is any one of these three guys would be the best receiver in the draft in most seasons. You kind of can't go wrong. To me, the more interesting question is what receivers do you key on if you don't take one in the first round.

Not sure who runs the best routes after the three.  Biggest/fastest/best routes

This is a very tough question.   Do I swing for the fences with Nabers, who has all the ability to be a top 3-5 WR in the league, or do I go with the slightly less talented but far safer (high character and ideal fit) in Odunze?   It's really up to the Giants' ability to vet player character properly.  After they passed on Parson and drafted Toney and Baker and re-signed OJB, I don't exactly feel comfortable with the Giants and their ability to accurately assess character.

I read Cosell's report on both and learned a lot.  Nabers lined up inside and outside however in 2023, most of his actual production came from the slot even though usage was 50-50 in slot versus outside.  That is telling to me.  For the Giants, I prefer the opposite where a WR has more production outside.  We have Robinson for the slot.
