I appreciate very much what you have presented here, however, here is how I am seeing it.

I agree with you that not exercising his 5th year option was the wrong move.

However, giving him a new contract after the way he played in 2022 was definitely the right move.

The issue that I have was not the contract itself, but to me it was the size of the contract. If they were to have re-signed him in the range of around 30 million a year, then I think that is fair, but 40 million was too much.

As for your last statement, I would say it is yet to be determined, but this year we will all get our answer.

I generally agree with this but Jones would not have signed for $30M.  So would the Giants have maybe used the tag there, instead of on Barkely?

Tag was definitely the way to go. Too bad Barkley rejected the deal they offered him in the middle of the season. I think if they were able to re-sign Barkley, then they would have used the franchise tag on Jones, but sadly it didn't go that way.

All the NFC East teams are capable of that same result though.  Its always a horserace in our division.

The contract given to Jones was deemed the "going rate" for a starting QB in the league. Jones' salary placed him tied for 13th in the league and will be declining each year. It's highly unlikely the Jones' camp would have agreed to a lower salary given the Giants' desire to have an out after two years.

I gave them 8+ wins last year, I bet the over, confidently 
This year I cant give them more than 6, so I won't bet, unless the line is 8; in that case I will bet the under.. I doubt it though. I have not checked yet, but they would set it around 6 is what I think they would do.
