This movie was so much better than the so-called "block busters" with budgets many times the budget of this movie

I watched the movie again.  It's such a good movie.  What sets it apart from Hollywood monster movies is that the human story is the movie's star.  The monster was a plot device to move the story along rather than the movie's star.

A lot of great themes were explored, including survivor's guilt. PTSD, the meaning of courage, and commentary on the Japanese government putting so little value on their citizens' lives during WW 2.
