That's an excellent breakdown.  The only thing I am not sure of is if NYG sees Simmons as an edge rusher

I don't think he is either but he's definitely not a Mike either in my opinion with this defense. So until we see how they will deploy him, I put him as a pass rush specialist on 3rd downs or a Weak side backer in 4/3 sets.

J: Nice job. Absent injuries, you're going to turn out IMO to be very close to reality. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

I think most close races will break to the younger guy/guy Schoen drafted or otherwise acquired, with an emphasis on ST ability on the roster margins (eg RB, WR, LB and CB depth).

I also see a chance for camp cuts for other teams to strengthen us. I think OT, Edge and CB are the most likely areas of interest given the importance of quality depth.

So you are not sure Hawkins makes the team.  That would be quite the plunge from training camp star last season to potential roster cut this season.   Are the TBDs potential waiver wire pickups after final cutdowns?

Rich: Injuries aside, Hawkins' fate IMO could turn on which vets are cut elsewhere near opening day. Bob

Hawkins was a small school prospect with outstanding measurables.  I am sort of hoping he takes a step up this season.

Rich: Unless lightning strikes (your hope) at best IMO he's going to the be last CB to make the team. Bob

As a footnote
Teams that have a Qb on the practice squad that can be promoted as a 3rd Qb for every game making the need to keep 3 Qbs unnecessary.

Also there can be 17 players on the practice squad instead of 16 if that player is an international one, of which our backup kicker is currently.

I believe the only reason the Giants would keep 3 QBs on the 53-man roster is if they believe the QB on the PS would be poached by another team.

I agree 100%, I just don't think devito is any better than any other PS qb we could poach if he got snatched.

J: True, but the QB on your own practice squad is far more ready to step in if an emergency occurs. Bob
