I'm sure he realized that same fact for the past few years, yet he continues to do so. As I said before, even in his winning season, the coaches felt that this was the best name plan for him, short dink and dunk and move the ball down the field. I really don't see how this will change. If the coaches have no confidence in him to throw it deeper and he basically had no time to do it (yet DeVito and Taylor did), nothing is going to change. Why you have confidence and no one else does is good for you. Once Jones gets hit a few times, the game plan will remain the same.

You captured my sentiments; in short, I'm struggling to understand the logic behind the question.  IMO, it's akin to asking if a RB would be more successful if he ran for more 10 to 15 yard runs.  The obvious answer is yes; however, the pertinent question remains: is said RB and Oline capable of sustaining long runs?  As you perfectly stated, is Jones, the line, and WRs capable of generating deeper passes?  Do the coaches trust the offense to push the ball downfield?  Obviously, any offense will be more successful if it's capable of generating more passing yards; however, the question remains, can our Giants finally become more than a bottom 5 passing team?  Until they do, they won't be able to compete with the NFL's best.

This was not an honest statement to make, when you full well know that more than a few posters here on BBH have supported DJ, and are looking for a bounce back year from him in 2024, especially after the Giants drafted Nabers.

How can he succeed this season? Make plays when they matter most. It's more about when than it is about from where or how. I can infer what is meant by succeed but thrive, not so much. In any case, it's first things first.

I cannot say you shouldn't be so positive about Jones, but in reality, and facts prove most of us are correct, Jones probably can handle a dink and dunk offense, and that's fine if we can win that way. But in an offense like that, you have to be mistake free. One holding penalty on 1st down makes it very difficult to move those 20 yards when your offense is set up for 4-5-yard plays.

So far Jones has had, what 3 different head coaches, and 3 different offensive schemes yet each one doesn't have him throwing deep, and by deep I mean those 15-20-yard passes that can help an offense achieve a degree of success. Don't keep blaming the OL as DeVito and Taylor each did it several times where Jones just doesn't seem to be able to handle that offense scheme.

Once again, I repeat, it is always more about making a play when it matters most no matter where on the field or at what distance.

Long passes will average more yards per play than short passes but with what completion percentage? Defenses are rational: they are not seeking to minimize the number of yards per play they are giving up; but rather to minimize the number of points per drive they are surrendering. Of course, all of those things can be a reflection of not just of the QB, but of his Receivers as well- and very often, indeed.

It certainly could be argued that the best Quarterbacks will make more plays when it matters most, but not always given the well-known exception of Eli Manning, who in his first 5 seasons had a 6.3 Y/A and a 55 Cmp% (by no means better than DJ's 6.6/ 64.3) yet he won a Lombo by making more plays when it mattered most.

He succeeded in 2022, and we will all get the answers we need this year if he can do it or not, but going into this year already believing that he can't is unwise. Instead, my recommendation is to just let the year play itself out, and lets see what we have without being presumptuous.

 He is our QB and I will root and sure hope most people are wrong about him. We ill have this discussion around Thanksgiving, hoping the Giants are playing for something then.
