DJ has a 2022 look about him in the first 7 games, and we go 2-5.

Do we leverage his performance and try to find a QB needy team trying to make a run at the trade deadline?

This bolsters our draft capital to go get our future QB in '25.

Would you do it?

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Andrew, barring an injury at the QB position, most QB needy teams don't make playoff runs.
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

Understood. I realize this is a long shot.
I'm simply trying to uncover if anyone of us would do it if it were possible.

I have a hard time imagining him playing above average and the team being 2-5.  If he plays above average, I think we are at least 0.500

Trench

If a good playoff type team lost its starting QB for the year then yes I would definitely consider it (based upon his injury history alone)

Nice try, Andrew.  But twisted plot or not it, is not a question as to what I or anyone else here would do- although most folks here seem anxious to move on from DJ- it is and always has been entirely up to the Giants Front Office to decide whether or not he has a future beyond this year. The only thing that might accelerate such decision would de another injury which by itself would end any thoughts of draft capital.

Cheers!

Andrew: Great idea for a thread.

My answer: I would not; and the Giants will not either.

And note that I used "will" (rather than "would") in the latter half of the second sentence. lol

If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Fielding a competent team seems like the goal/priority and Jones thriving is the most likely reason that happens so they wouldn't.

I agree with Rich's point about teams making playoff runs generally not being QB-needy. The position is too important in today's NFL for someone who is actually in the hunt after 7 games to be QB-needy.

That said, and as Rich also noted, a team whose starter went down and had no good backup or their backup also got hurt might potentially be interested.

Would I do it? Yes, absolutely. Jones' contract is bad and I'd be happy to offload it to someone else. Moreover, I'm personally not satisfied with 2022 Jones as a plateaued, long term solution to continue paying $40m a year to. I'd rather search for a better QB in future drafts and pay much less than $40mm a year to get similar caliber play from a free agent the way the Seahawks did with Geno or the Bucs did with Mayfield.

If they start 2-5, its going to a be pretty hot seat for Daboll...
