Dude just couldn't stay healthy

Sad thing he was always iffy ..... but the few games before he went out with injury he started to look slightly decent. Especially after a rough preseason

Bob In PA

The release of Robinson was inevitable. I'm surprised he lasted until now. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Ed Vette

Now watch, he'll go on to a stellar career somewhere else.  /sarcasm/

In three short years, this team has purged almost all of DG draft picks; that's how bad this team was.

There is always turnover in the league. DGs picks date back to 2018.  Plenty of guys from that draft are not in the league at all.  How many of the draft picks were cut?  How many of those are successful on other teams?  How many signed with other teams at the end of their contract?

BJ Hill
Will Hernandez
Barkley

All still playing and two of the three we can say are successful on other teams (Barkley remains to be seen).

The 2021 class was particularly awful.  The older ones had some saving graces.

Agree with Bob here, surprised it took this long.

Guy must have some ability for the team to have kept him around this long with no production.

I said at the time the BJ Hill trade was dumb; the notion that coaching was going to magically alter a fourth-year failed player mystified me. BJ Hill was and still is better than Price.  That was a dumb trade executed by the aforementioned DG.  Will Hernandez "ascension" is greatly exaggerated; for heaven sakes, he was bottom five in sacks and pressures allowed last season (29 total pressures and four sacks).  I'll grant you he's a serviceable Guard; however, I'm not concerned that he no longer wears blue.  So, we've identified 1 player in four draft classes (with mult top 10 picks) who went on to mediocrity with another team.  Again, that's how bad we were, and is probably the impetus for Ed's sarcastic comment.  In short, the Giants scouting department and GM have to do better!  Coaching is not going to save us from a lack of talent, relative to our competition.

I was just talking about 2018.

Julian Love was purged but is a solid player
Xavier McKinney

Then you still have some picks that are still on the team and near the best at their position in the league.

I am not trying to rewrite DGs tenure, but acting like 1 player in 4 draft classes was any good is flat out false.

Again, that 2021 class was putrid and may be what ultimately led to regime change.  The 3 classes before it were a mixed bag.

Matt

The point I explicitly made was in just a few seasons, the Giants have purged MOST of the players from DG era.  As of today, of the 93 players listed on the Giants roster, only 9 were on the roster 3 years ago; of the 9, only 3 are starters. The Giants have turned over 91% of their roster in just a few seasons, which speaks to the lack of talent and poor job by our scouts.

It wasn't that he couldn't stay healthy.  He tore his ACL and MCL and simply never returned (for over 2 years).  Clearly NYG doesn't think he will ever be the same or they could have put him on IR for the season to free up his roster spot

He has been hurt for over 2 years.   Another example of the Giants crack medical staff.

Although, in fairness, a bad enough knee injury could have robbed him of enough of his ability that he no longer was athletic enough to play in the NFL.  He might have shredded his meniscus in the process and now is arthritic.

Another in the recent list of Giants thought to have some talent but who could never get their careers off the ground due to injury issues. Sam Beal and Ellerson Smith come to mind.

Didn't we trade up to get Aaron Robinson too?

All I can think of is wasted potential.
