I do not feel like that would be completely fair, different teams, schemes, personnel, fans, media, etc. the list goes on.

Players get drafted or signed all the time based on position alone, but may not be a fit schematically. Just because x position player for team Y flopped, doesn't mean they would fail on team Z, certainly possible, but not that simple.

Quote from: MightyGiants on August 01, 2024, 01:44:07 PMIt's not a question of the "game slowing down".  It's a question of consistency.  DJ (and Lock for that matter) both make impressive throws.  The challenge for both of them is to make more good throws and less off-target throws.

I believe in sports as the game slows down for a player, consistency follows. For example a QB begins to see things at the line which causes an audible and u can clearly see the confidence develop within the pocket and without. I saw it happen to Phil Simms.

I am pretty sure QBs don't audible during practice.  Coaches are running particular plays for a reason

Maybe later in training camp they should practice audibles occasionally.  Send in a play but then call a defense that is set up to stop that play to see if the qb checks out of it correctly.  Do this randomly a few times in each series.  If you are going to need to do something a game you have to practice it.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

The saddest part of this thread is that we're comparing rookies to a 6 year veteran making $40M this season who should have proven himself years ago.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

We also compared a 3rd overall pick with a 6th overall pick who has a salary that is like 16th highest in the league

Thursdays practice

Daniel Jones: 11 of 15 (73%) and 2 TDs

He's getting better and didn't struggle

Enjoy!

Really hard to say if it's him or the talent, supporting cast. Will be waiting 4 or maybe 5 years to pass judgement. Then if injuries come into play, you'll need to wait longer to make a firm assertion that he's a franchise guy.

If he struggles it's good. He can work on his issues. If he is like the superstar in camp he was last year, the deficiencies were masked.

Article in today's NY Post says Aaron Rodgers has been changing plays at the line of scrimmage every day during practice.

That's not exactly what was said

Quote"I talk to my friends back home all the time, it's like playing with MJ or Kobe," veteran defensive tackle Solomon Thomas said. "It is like one-of-a-kind. I feel blessed to be around him. I feel blessed to be a part of this team. He's the best in the game.

"I mean, the adjustments he makes at the line of scrimmage is crazy. What he sees, what he hears, what he notices, how aware he is. You haven't seen it."

It's also important to note that the Jets have done white-on-green scrimmages, which are different than regular 11 on 11 practice.  Scrimmage is closer to real game simulation

"Rodgers has dazzled at times with incredible throws, matched wits with the defense by changing plays at the line of scrimmage and, most importantly, shown durability. "

Again, it seems like you don't appreciate the difference between a regular practice and a scrimmage.

Also, that quote was from a reporter, not a player or coach.

You have NO idea if he only does this in scrimmages or if he also does it in drills so can we just please agree to disagree on this
