Tommy "Chicken Cutlets" is a nice kid, has a beautiful family, had the spotlight turned on him and his North Jersey upbringing and lifestyle, made folks like me feel a little homesick for my roots, and I hear he makes a killer Egg Cream on Tuesday nights at the local soda jerk.

What he did for the Giants last season was akin to what happened down the turnpike in 1976 with the Filthy Iggles' local hero, the guy they made the Disney movie after ... Vince Papali, I believe ... and the movie actually had the Giants in their disco 70s away uniforms, blue pants, white stripes on helmets and all ... a classic! One day, Disney will come out with a Tommy Chicken Cutlets movie, they'll show his three wins and it'll be a great show for North Jersey folks except it was a 💩 season in all.

The kid has moxie, but he still has lots to learn about being an NFL QB. That Daboll is keeping him around, and giving him an opportunity, is gracious on his part. But there's no guarantee he'll be on the final roster after the last of the cuts are made.

Would I keep him on, for emergency purposes? Yes, absolutely! For a change-up, I think he would be great for the Giants but provided he continues to develop his craft. There's evidence he has made some progress but there's more to be done.

In the meantime, @BluesCruz , have you started up the Tommy Chicken Cutlets Fan Club yet? You need to be the President and I nominate you as the lone qualified candidate for that prestigious role.

Peace!

if you cannot see it ( I feel sorry for you) Tommy is the only capable QB on this team.....you better pray DeVito starts the season

No other team would even give us a #6 for Jones even if we paid off his contract....he is simply a bad QB.  picking him #6 in the draft was insane
taking Barkley #2 was incredibly dumb

Drew Lock is apparently a placeholder   Not even holding a candle to Tyrod......
on the field 3 microseconds and incurs a serious injury....hip pointer and oblique is no small issue of a player

Thank your lucky stars someone in the Giants front office recommended they give DeVito a tryout last pre-season

Schoen like Tommy too....he has more clout than a MB poster I'm afraid  :surrender:  :surrender:  :surrender: :surrender:

I haven't seen enough of Tommy to say he is the best. We seem to know what we have with Jones and no matter what, he is the starter.
What I do know is if Jones goes down we all know we can be competitive with Tommy and win a game or two, something we can't say about Locke.
WTF did Schoen see in Locke to offer him all that guaranteed money. Did he even bring him on for a workout or sign him on his highlite tape, if there ever was one.
Tommy should be #2 and if we need another body in camp he would be #3.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

8/15 92 yards Passing playing nearly the entire game. And after one PS game, he's anointed the best QB on the team. If he is, this team is in deep xxxx.

Agree but the problem is that this stuff is so prevalent, it would make most threads hard to read.

I'm not sure what the best approach is.

Not feeding the troll is a good approach.  Not every ridiculous claim needs to be refuted.

Schoen overpaid for Lock. Seattle gave him 1.7mm guaranteed over two years. He could have easily gotten him for 3mm guaranteed. Instead he gave him almost 5.0mm guaranteed. Lock had one good game where he showed promise last year.

To his defense, he's learning a new system with new language that is complicated. His inaccuracy was my concern at camp. He's looked more like a rookie with a cannon for an arm. I think it was Schoen who said Drew and Tommy both had good camps. I was surprised by that statement because neither of them looked anywhere near the level Jones was at. Not even close.

Well Ed them Tommy is a gamer
He wins in real games. Not practice throwing to the practice squad types

From what I hear Jones practices well
In game he is a punt generator and can't move the offense downfield

As folks here are usually quite generous, it has taken a bit longer for it to become evident to us that BluesCruz is little more than an attention-seeker. There are any number of reasons why that might be, but that is up to him to confront, not us.

What he apparently doesn't understand is that his overweening praise of Tommy DeVito is less an issue for ever hopeful Giants fans than is his absolutely gratuitous slandering of Daniel Jones who represents that very same hope. Either he thinks we are all vacuous fools, or it's a part of his attention-seeking strategy. Either way, it's a loser.

Cheers!

As is too often the case, the 15 topics at the top of the Board were generated by two people. This is the time of year where that starts to change. There were some great questions asked inside those posts that it would seem few have read or responded to. If there is something you would like to talk about, please start a topic. I think we could all benefit from that.

My two pennies.  :ok:

Well stated, Mitch.

I have no issue commenting on what positives the Giants have gained by DeVito's services, both tangible and intangible, as well as DeVito's blessings. It was exciting for a finite period but it gave way to reality once opposing teams seriously game-planned against him.

He has an opportunity now to take the next step in his development curve. He and Lock will have plenty of time in the film room to do their studies and we'll hopefully see very little of them once the season starts.

Next topic, please!

DeVito led the Giants to wins against the two worst teams in the league - Washington and New England. He was benched because of his abysmal performances against the Rams and the Saints.

Granted - the offense isn't just the QB. Point production is dependent on the entire offense executing the gameplan especially the offensive line.

On the other hand, Jones ran the offense and executed the game plan consistently enough to lead the Giants to a 10-7 season and a road playoff victory in 2022 when he was healthy.

Once again - there is no evidence that DeVito is the best option for the Giants to win. Your claims that the coaches love DeVito and want him to start are unsubstantiated. He's a third string QB.
