I think they'll pick someone up, 2 QBs is not enough for camp.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

Goodness me.

Well this isn't "dependable"

sounds like exactly what we did not need

GMs aren't going to have perfect off seasons where 100% of their decisions are correct. But damn if that $ could have been used on a CB2!

The last thing Lock needs is an injury. Preseason would have maybe helped his game, but DeVito may have taken the #2 job for good going into the season. Can't see Dabes counting on Lock.

We've seen nothing from Lock but schlock play in camp. Maybe they were overly injury concerned about Jones, not sold on Cutlets, whatever. But it sure looks like a wasted move.

Wasnt Jacob Eason on the roster once?

Why not again??

I don't think the Giants need to panic about getting another QB. For camp body purposes it may make sense, but:

(1) We have been told Lock's outlook is to miss "a couple" weeks, as in about two weeks. If accurate, that would suggest he'll be back on the 23rd or the 24th of August. That means he might be back for the preseason game against the Jets - though I am guessing he won't play even if he's on the bubble - but it certainly sounds like he has a good chance of being ready for the week one game against the Vikings on Sep 8th.

(2) DeVito appears to be a perfectly capable backup. The guy went 3-3 and had an 89 rating on a 6-11 team last year, and he's had a full offseason to work on his game. At this point I am convinced he is a better player than Lock.

(3) There has been nothing reported to suggest Jones won't be ready to go for week one. He seems to be ready now. If he weren't, I highly doubt he'd be a full participant in camp more than a full month before the start of the season.

Reason number two! The only problem is... what if DeVito goes down in next week's game? IMO they have no choice but to bring someone in, if only so they have a warm body other than Jones to insert. They can't get Rourke back (claimed by Falcons, did OK for them in their first preseason game). Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

They will bring someone in. No way Lock plays the rest of the preseason. Obliques take a long time.

Having played with one, with lots (and lots more) of padding, it took about six months before it completely went away (as a goalkeeper).

When Lock comes back, as long as he doesn't get hit or fall continuously on that hip side, he'll be able to play. But, damn, it fine hurts like hell when you hit the ground on that bad hip!!!

Peace!

Its not a question of panic is it?  Its just a need for a body to help get thru camp?  Do you expect to see Devito and DJ the next three pre season games??

I agree they will bring a QB in. They have to in light of this Lock injury. I don't think it's a particularly big deal who it is. The likelihood of the player ever seeing the field in a real game is extremely low, whoever it is.
