I was always more comfortable with McCloud anyway.

I think best case scenario is that Banks continues to progress and doesn't have a sophomore slump, McCloud performs average to slightly above average, Phillips can step up and run with the nickel spot, and someone out of Flott / Herndon / Hawkins / Holmes can man the dime.

I agree that this looks like the rough best case scenario.

While it is probably not base case, it does not sound like a wild longshot, either.

If the pass rush is upper echelon, that will also help mask or at least mitigate some of the potential deficiencies in the defensive backfield.
