Notes from today's practice:

• This was very much a game prep practice. The offense and defense alternated as the scout teams for the other side. Very fast pace as they worked through a variety of situations.

• My sense is Daboll is taking a regular-season mentality into Saturday. I expect the healthy starters to play the first half (if not a little longer).

• Certainly looks and sounds like Malik Nabers will play after a minor ankle sprain. He was a full participant in practice today. Also wouldn't be surprised if John Michael Schmitz plays. He didn't rotate out at all today.

• Tyler Nubin is making his push. There was a three-man rotation at safety with the starting defense among Nubin, Jason Pinnock and Dane Belton.

• Sounds like Drew Lock will be available as the emergency QB. Imagine he'd just go in and hand the ball off if it gets to that point.

• Players I'm not expecting to play based on their workload today: RB Tyrone Tracy (ankle), TE Lawrence Cager (groin), OL Jon Runyan (shoulder), LB Dyontae Johnson (ankle), CB Cor'Dale Flott (quad), CB Dru Phillips (ankle) and S Gervarrius Owens (knee). TE Tyree Jackson TBD after leaving practice early today.

I like it, want to see the 1s play so we can shake off some rust and make sure we are ready for week 1

I am excited for Nubin personally, I hope he makes the most of all his chance, also hope to see Chatman play with the 1s potentially.

Runyan and Phillips are the 2 biggest concerns should they miss the game.

The OL MUST get as many reps as possible with the Week 1 starting 5 and, thus far, has not been able to do so. I know they wouldn't play the whole game, but any reps as a unit in actual game action are critical.

Phillips needs to be healthy to show that's he's ready for prime time. They appear to have him pegged as the slot, and with the secondary likely to be the weak point of the D, his role and how he performs will be key.

Still searching for that boundary corner unless they think McCloud is it.

I think McCloud is it. They really don't have any other options.
