Pairing up the WR battles

While there are plenty of WRs on the roster beyond the top 4 (Nabers, Robinson, Slayton, and Hyatt), I see most of them paired off in their competition.

Allen Robinson VS Isaiah Hodgins-  Robinson (almost 31) is older, a veteran presence, and a more accomplished onfield receiver.  Robinson doesn't do special teams, which hurts him big time (since bottom of the roster, WRs usually play specials.   Shepard showed the team that they are willing to break that rule for the right veteran locker room guy.  Hodgins is younger, an excellent run blocker, and does play specials, but not that well.  Both are similar in size and speed

Gunner Olszewski VS Isaiah McKenzie-  Isaiah is older (29 years old) but is more accomplished as a returner and receiver.   Gunner looked good in camp as a receiver, but it will be a challenge for him to beat out Isaiah, who has a history with Daboll.


Miles Boykin VS Bryce Ford-Wheaton - are both great size and speed guys who never really translated that to production as a receiver.  Ford-Wheaton is a bit younger (but has had injury issues), while Boykin has proven himself on specials. 


John Jiles VS Ayir Asante-  I think these two undrafted rookies are fighting for a spot on the PS.  To me Jiles has a bit of an edge because he has better measurables. 

Dennis Houston-  he is the only one I couldn't pair up with, and I think, barring injury, he is a long shot to make the active roster.  He has flashed in camp though, so he might have a shot at the PS

I think Hodgins and one ST guy make the 53, Jiles and Allen Robinson to the PS.

Another note, by three pairings will result in 7 WRs.  I am not certain the team will carry that many, so it's possible one pairing will fail to make the team (my money would be on the Hodgins VS Robinson pairing)

IMO the winner of Olszewski vs McKenzie will be decided by injuries.

With the Giants' usual bad luck, it's even possible they'll both make the team due to injuries (long shot).

I prefer McKenzie and believe that probably puts me in the minority with the fan base.

It would, and he may not, I just doubt with his recent history he would have many suitors but I could be wrong, we see vets like this on PS a fair amount around the league. Even if not, I think as a WR Hodgins would be more effective and already has the chemistry in any scenario.
