Better not spend a single snap at RT this season.

I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Not slowing my roll

At this point, just put him on IR and be done with it. If he turns into a starter somewhere else like Bredeson and Phillips and Peart, so be it. It's not happening here and I don't know what it is about the uniform that makes these guys stink.

You mean, now he AND JMS BOTH have ankles.

SI#3: Improve 2024 Lost Man-Games due to Injury metric vs. 2023.

Two O-Linemen, a starter and a reserve, are now going to be questionable for Opening Day.

SI#1: Fix the Damn Offensive Line!

All semblances of repair were promising; however, they now are tenuous going into Opening Day.

Not a good warm-up for the Giants' execution against their strategic initiatives.

Peace!

Still think he can be an excellent guard. I don't know why they insist on seeing what he can do at tackle. He can't play in space. I don't know how many times they need to see an edge player blow past him like he isn't even there before they figure it out.

Why?  Because it's another position?

He has zero OL qualities.

Because when he can get his hands on a player he tends to maul him. Playing inside negates his biggest weakness.

Evan Neal did not surrender a single sack at left tackle for Alabama. He was widely considered a top 20, even 10 Offensive Right Tackle where he was projected to play in the NFL.

However there was one huge red flag that Schoen and the scouts ignored. Just like Ereck Flowers, Neal refused to participate in the agility drills at the Combine. That refusal is typically an Agent driven order as he knew that drill would not go well.

The Draft is always a crapshoot. But I hope the next time an OL prospect refuses to participate in the agility drills, that Schoen scratches him from their Draft Board.

Neal is by far the most disappointing top 10 draft pick in decades for me.

I had very high hopes of him solidifying the OL and holding down the right side.

With all of the focus on the need to improve the OL...if you're going to draft an OT that high, then clearly more due diligence was in order.

Additionally with all of the resources spent on the OL, why are you screwing around with countless substandard OL Coaches? This reaches behind the current FO/HC but they are becoming complicit as each day goes by.
From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Barring the unlikely scenario that he somehow turns things around this year, he is setting himself up to potentially be a top three bust in Giants history. Certainly trending for top five.

A bunch of fans and media people feeling like a prospect was a good pick doesn't dismiss the GM missing on said pick.  I loved Neal, but I am not an NFL scout or GM.  I am not paid to figure it out and watch tape and build the team and neither is anyone else on here.

If Neal ends up a bust it's still an awful pick by Schoen that will set the franchise back in some way (and already has).  The draft is not a complete crapshoot (which suggests it's a 50/50 proposition).  There are individuals and teams who done better over time with their early round picks.

It doesn't look good right now for Neal and if he doesn't show anything this year I think it gets to a point of how long do you hang on to a failed pick.  Be it for health or ability reasons.

He just came off of IR and missed all of camp, I am ok giving him a little slack.

What do you mean by that?

All any of us can do is wait and see if he gets on the field and if so, does he play well.

I am fine with them giving him a roster spot and seeing what he can do at OG, but I want him nowhere near the RT position, and I'm not just basing that statement on last night. He was a train wreck there the last two seasons, and he has shown no meaningful signs of improvement.

I also wouldn't give him a long leash at OG either. We have a bunch of guards on this team. There is no reason to be tolerating terrible play from him like what we saw last night and what we saw in 2022 and 2023. I really hope Schoen/Daboll don't cling to Neal just because he was a high draft pick two seasons ago. If he can't do the job he shouldn't be out there. Simple as that. It's year three now. Enough is enough with this guy.

That only works if he plays with balance and leverage and a strong stance.  He does not do any of those well and as a result, he can get pushed around by players much smaller than he is.  At this point, he does not have any redeemable skills to play OL.
