Huge game for Eagles.  You showcased exactly what you can do and you are a damn fine person.  It's clear the Giants could not maximize your talent with limited talent.  Now you will thrive.  Happy for you.

Like I said in weekly thread, the Giants will get clowned for this... but he's the exact signing a team like the Giants shouldn't make and a team in the Eagles' position should.

I also think his stat line oversells how he looked a bit. I thought it was prototypical Saquon--lots of runs into the backs of the OL (which was generally farther down field than the Giants managed), then bust a big one.

In any case, the question is not whether he will be productive when on the field, but whether he can be there at the end of the season for them. 25+ touches a game is going to be unsustainable for him based off his history.

Yeah if he can stay healthy he is going to have a monster....and I mean potentially historically MONSTER year.  The right situation + the right motivation + hardest worker on the team.  Very happy that he landed in a place that can utilize his talents but simply HATE it has to be the Eagles.  I've taken quite a few large bets on Saquon's success this year and I have a feeling it will be easy money.

As for his contract situation- I agree he shouldn't have been signed this year.  However, I still strongly believe Schoen should have bent just tiny bit more LAST year and locked him up on a multi-year deal.  In the grand scheme of things it would have been a few more million a year AND we would have had the clear side benefit of franchising Daniel Jones instead and not being saddled with a highly questionable situation at QB.  I believed it at the time and I think it's held 100% true as to how it's played out.

One of the reasons he wasn't resigned was his injury history. Let's see what production the Giants get out of their backs. I take nothing away from him. He had a great game and made a difference.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

When giants players leave I always want the best for them if they were good teammates, unless you obviously face us in a game.

But when you join a division rival it has more weight and implications (good for him that he played well) but I hope every game he sucks in it because it benefits the giants in the long run.

He had a chance to stay, but wanted more money (which is good for him & no issues there) which would hurt the giants getting all the pieces they were able to because he left. Bigger issue was also his injuries.

This was only game 1, lets see how it looks as the season goes on.

Either way, Giants made the right move. If they could have met in a good spot for both I would have been glad we had him back, but in the end it didn't happen.

Mckinney didn't look horrible either, not 50 million worth but still solid.

I hope he keeps running into olinemen and has a ton of fumbles as well. Screw him.

I'm watching the game and even though I always respected Barkley and was very upset on the Giants not wanting him back, I sort of cringed every time he did something really good. Maybe it is just because when he does well it helps the Eagles, but when he scored those TDs I was sad in a way. If he had gone to Atlanta, I would probably rooted hard for him, but now, I sort of hope he is tackled for losses every time.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

He was dead to me the second he took the deal from the Eagles.

I am an Okc Thunder fan and Barkley reminds me of KD. Going to a rival to win. F'em both.
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!

There is often a faulty assumption in the Barkley debate, that he would run as well behind an inferior Giants' offensive line.

Except he did:

2018*   NYG   RB   26   16   16   261   1307   11   5   81.7   AP ORoY-1, PB
2019   NYG   RB   26   13   13   217   1003   6   4.6   77.2
2020   NYG   RB   26   2   2   19   34   0   1.8   17
2021   NYG   RB   26   13   13   162   593   2   3.7   45.6
2022*   NYG   RB   26   16   16   295   1312   10   4.4   82   AP CPoY-3, PB
2023   NYG   RB   26   14   14   247   962   6   3.9   68.7

He had 2 PB and 4 Good seasons running behind the "Giant inferior O-line."  To Ed's point, his down seasons were a byproduct of injuries.  Can he play more than 13 games this season?  We'll have to wait and see.  Regardless, when healthy, Barkly was a Top 5 RB, despite running behind a terrible Oline.  You can't make a faulty assumption when said assumption has actually occurred, multiple times.  Could he be better in Phili?  Absolutely! Afterall, he's surrounded by better talent at every position, with the exception of LT.  However, that doesn't negate the fact he was a top 5 RB here, despite playing with a bottom 5 Oline, WRs and QB.

Last year, Barkley averaged 3.9 yards per carry.  Last night it was 4.5 yards per carry.  That's is not the same

I don't share the views of those here who want the worst for Barkley. Having said that, I don't want the Eagles to win games, and Barkley was instrumental to them winning last night, so I'm not exactly rooting for him either.

Mostly, I don't care that much either way. I have nothing against Saquon, but I hate the team he is on, so I can't really say I'm rooting for him. But that has nothing to do with him personally. If he were on the Raiders or Jaguars or something I'd probably be mildly more supportive. At the end of the day I just don't care all that much. Too much of my focus is on the Giants for me to care about players on other teams, even if they used to be on ours.

That's one game, played in perfect conditions, with Barkley at peak health, compared to 14 games, Rich.  Also, what about the other 5 seasons Barkley played here?  Again, he was a top 5 RB, despite playing behind said terrible Oline.
