Sure glad Daboll benched Tommy Cutlets trying for Tyrod to try to win more games at season end and cost us a QB. Ironically, those wins may be what cost him his job this year. If he was grooming a rookie QB this year, Mara would not want to fire him.

Has anyone seen the Twitter video of jones throwing the interception into double coverage?...the angle is directly behind jones at field level (very cool perspective)...he doesn't look the defender off in the least. Pure bird dog. Defenders see it clearly. For everyone who throws shade onto this concept I encourage you to watch the clip. It is absolutely startling and if our coaches don't see it we are in deeper than I thought. Wish I could post it

Defenders openly clown Jones for this. Remember the Seahawks game last year? The rookie, Devon Witherspoon, had a 97-yard pick-six. He told reporters after the game: "We knew he liked to stare down his first target."

It's nothing new. Jones has been a one-read QB his entire career. I would even say that calling him a "slow" processor is a misnomer--he doesn't process at all. Its either the first guy or tuck it and run, rarely ever looking downfield. He makes it so easy for defenses.

I've seen it.  It's disgraceful for a 6th year QB and it underscores what I have been saying about Jones all along.

Every fan and coach should see that video clip. It is absolutely startling to me

DJ throwing Interceptions staring down his first target and running himself into pressures (7) and sacks (3)* as a second contract veteran QB is not a fixable issue.

* PFF and NFL NGS agree on charging 3/5 of the sacks to Jones and 2/5 to the OL and the eye test agrees that whilst the OL was not perfect by any means ** it was much improved

** the pressure where Runyan abandons his gap (to set Van Ginkel free on the loop) in the mistaken belief that Thomas would need help when he already had his hands on the Edge should be an easily teachable moment
If you live your life as a pessimist you never really live your life at all.

Except they've sucked for a dozen years and Mara has been the one constant over that time.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Yes other teams would have held onto Jones much less, but realistically, the year prior when he signed there were no better options.

They tried to move on this year and weren't able to trade up, there were 3 QB needy teams ahead of them, they weren't able to get the guy they wanted.

If the Maras were such an issue we would have been bad during the Coughlin era if they were this horrible as owners.

Wasn't the foundation for the Coughlin era laid under Wellington, who hired Accorsi?

Correct. Also Chris Mara was promoted to senior vice president of player personnel in 2011 while Tim McDonnell has been with the team since 2013 and has been steadily promoted. Lots of executives that cannot be fired.

Was the clip from yesterday's game or prior?

Accorsi and John Mara did not want to hire Coughlin in 2004 (or at least he was not their first choice). In the last good thing he did as co-owner, Wellington Mara sort of forced it through. Coughlin was not an Accorshi hire. Accorsi was never a fan. And Coughlin's Super Bowls came in the Reese era.

Where did you get this intel? From what I remember Coughlin was always their #1 choice. Parcells wasn't available as he was already in Dallas.

The four candidates were Lovie Smith, Romeo Crennel, Charlie Weis, and Coughlin. Mara has spoken about him and Accorsi not bneing enthusiastic about Coughlin when they met him, because of his over-the-top personality. Accorsi also didn't think Coughlin was a great game-manager. Coughlin was Wellington Mara's top choice.
