Defense... Bowen needs to adjust

With the exception of the TD, I thought Banks played well today.  Holding JJ to under 70 yards and 2 catches is a remarkable accomplishment. He's someone we can build around. 

The TD is a very hard play to defend.  He sells out to jump the route and jefferson breaks the other way and he gets beat anyway.

Yep, like Skinner said, you would sign up for that performance against JJ every week.  Banks is solid...

A little perspective: the Def only gave up 308 yards and 21 points, despite being compromised by a horrific offensive performance. I believe the Def will get better, when the offense can at least play better than the worst unit in the NFL.  The def wasn't good, but I think they're primary issue is the offense.

No doubt BUT 99 of those 308 yards were the longest possible drive and killed any chance we had. Demoralizing. Also, Minnesota let up once it was clear Daboll waved the white flag. Not arguing your view but just adding my worthless two cents.

Whole team needs a gut check.

A couple of things on defense.
This had 11 sacks but most were in 3-4 games. I remember many posts about him not showing up for way too many games. He can control a game but they are far too many he just disappears. You can't count on him in a big situation. When has he ever gotten a sack when the team needs it,?

Lawrence is far and away our best defensive player. I understand it is only game one but he should be on the field as much as possible.37 plays just isn't enough.

Was anyone really excited when Bowen was hired. He has always been sort of average when much better candidates were around.

They have little depth on the dl. When Lawrence is out other teams can run at will. Burns is good. Far from great. Any injuries and it will get worse. I do like Nubin and Philips for the future.

After watching the Cowboys with a reunited "Zeke" in their backfield, any hope for Strategic Initiative #2: "Close the gap between the Giants and their key division rivals (i.e. DALLAS and PHILLY)," it is almost heresy at this moment to even suggest they have either a wing or a prayer of grading out anything other than bloody red in this category. In fact, couple that with either (or both) of the other two SI's (i.e. fix the damn O-Line, reduce Lost Man-Games due to Injury) since SI #1 is at best questionable to potential yellow, up-arrow, and the other yellow, down-arrow.

It is pretty evident the gap appears to have widened and, although it is a long season, I can't help but feel it's about to get even longer next weekend if the team "formerly known as the Redskins" joins the other division rivals by planting their name on SI #2.

In 1992, by halftime of the Week #2 Cowboy debacle when it was 34-0 Dallas, the fans demanded "RAY MUST GO!!!" If what happened yesterday continues, another chant will be taken up by the Giant fan-chorus and you don't have the Las Vegas card-counter to push around anymore!!! They may get creative to the tune of BRIAN AND JOE! SHUFFLE THEM BACK TO BUFFALO!!! Add snow, you can alternate "shuffle" with "shovel."
