Quote from: Jclayton92 on September 15, 2024, 07:57:04 PMThat is still absolutely nothing. Derek Carr had 222 yards at half time and makes less than Jones.

Trevor Lawrence makes more than Daniel Jones and he only had 220 yards, with a 71.5 RTG the entire game. His team put up 13 points and lost.

Here are some other performances, by some elite QB's.

Aaron Rodgers 176 yards

Patrick Mahomes 151 yards

Baker Mayfield 189 yards

Justin Herbert 130 yards

18/30, 176, 2 TD, 0 INT, 2-12 sacks, QBR 46.2, PR 98.7, 1 rush, 2 yds.

16/28, 178, 2 TD, 0 INT, 1-3 sacks, PR 100.0, 5 rush, 32 yds.

NY's QBs.  For some reason I couldn't find DJs QBR.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

The only QB I would classify in this field as elite is Mahomes.

Didn't all these QBs win?  How many of these QBs were playing a bottom defense/team?  What is the point of this thread?  Do you believe this was some exceptional/good performance?

No, they didn't all win, Trevor Lawrence lost, who makes 55 million a year and more than Jones.

Herbert played against the worst defense in the NFL.

The point of the response was in answering Jclayton's comment that D. Carr makes less than Jones.

Herbert, Lawrence, and Mahomes all make more than Jones.

I consider Herbert and Mahomes to be elite.

Daniel Jones' performance was good enough to win. If Nabers holds onto the ball, Singletary doesn't fumble, and Gano doesn't get injured the Giants win this game.

I didn't see Lawrence on your list. Also, couldn't I state if DJ didn't over throw Nabers by 15 yards, or miss him wide-open in the flat, the Giants win?  Why only focus on other errors?

Fundamentally, I agree with Jeff.  DJ didn't play bad at all; for him, it was a good game...for him.  However, a similar performance over the next 5 weeks probably will fail to result in more than 1 win.  Let me put it another way, do you think the fans of the QBs you listed are starting positive threads about their QBs performance, or are they happy they won, despite their QBs having off weeks? That's the point DaveBrown making.

If jones converts on the 2 point conversions and makes better passes on the deep bomb plays we also win. SXDX, respectfully, this performance isn't the one to resurrect the Jones is great fan club

He was competent, efficient, about the best version of Jones you'll see, but against an awful defense that gave him ample opportunity to make plays when they had the ball. The 2-point conversions fails ..that's on coach Dumbo.

Nabers was very helpful here, but the offense is going to be severely challenged playing catch-up against quality opponents.

This was a must-win for the Giants and they let an inferior opponent beat them, and will have a media storm now at Daboll's door all week

Getting ugly real quick.

Washington dominated time of possession leaving only 22.18 for the Giants. They also
played a two deep zone limiting the Giants to short and intermediate passes. Jones was in command of the offense and was not the reason they lost. If you expected gaudy Fantasy Football stats, Jones was not your guy.

With Jones you don't get fantasy stats OR wins.

Is this shot really necessary? I resent the "fan club" reference.

So it was Jones' fault they lost? Got it

Wasn't meant as a shot. Was meant as an acknowledgment he has fans who believe he is great (and that's ok). I'm still rooting like hell for the guy too!

No one remotely suggested this loss was on jones; however, you seem to be pretending his performance was anything more than adequate. He had near perfect conditions today and only produced moderate results.  You take issue with the Jones Fan Club rhetoric but feel free to toss around this fantasy football crap...

Was partly his fault yes. If he won it would be partly his fault also.

To be clear, I do blame today's loss on Daboll.
