Quote from: Stringer Bell on September 16, 2024, 04:02:29 PMSingletary did have a good game, but we absolutely can be mad at him for the fumble.

He was not holding the ball fine. Had he secured it "tip to tip" and tight to his body, there's no way that ball is getting punched out. It was sloppy and otherwise negated what had been a solid showing.

To each their own, I disagree. I think it was more of a good defensive play than a bad one by him.

It still was costly though, obviously.

Sometimes the other team just makes a great play. But I agree, it wasn't as tight as it could have been. TC should have made a video on this.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Quote from: Trench on September 16, 2024, 03:54:13 PMWhat did Theo do to garner being a goat? He wasn't targeted that I can remember.

Guys who played well and should be on the hero list for this game:
1. Jones
2. JMS
3. Singletary
4. Phillips
5. Banks

What did Banks do to be a hero? I saw him give up plenty of catches and yards.
"It's extra special against Dallas. That's absolutely a team I can't stand. I've been hating Dallas ever since I knew anything about football." - Brandon Jacobs

I also saw him give up some plays but I think overall he played strong. He was obviously heavily engaged with his opponent. They say he's still learning this type defense. Maybe that is part of it

DJ Davidson not have enough snaps to qualify as a goat?

To see the impact of how Coughlin corrected Tiki's fumbling problem and encouragement to focus on free weight squatting had on his career defines what we mean when we say good coaching can bring out the best in a player.  It's a shame how Tiki walked away from the Giants.  In his last few seasons, I thought he was the best running back in the league.  Think of how many hours of debate this board had on the Barkley decision that centered around the signing a running back to second contract and expected diminished ability.  Tiki was playing his best football at the end of his career, it's hard to imagine seeing a running back's career trajectory ever end up like his again.

I'm not at all stating the Barkley decision should have been influenced by Tiki's career, just pointing out how extraordinary his career was and its relationship to Coughlin.  Maybe I am stating we need to raise the bar a bit on expectations around how current coaches can get more ability out of players.
