hard to compare guys due to so many circumstances. but on paper, the bottom statements ring true. my boss said to me 20 years ago, perception is reality. the perception is that lawrence is a golden goose. even though he really has not lived up to that yet.

I think the difference is Jags fans understand Lawrence has played poorly throughout his career. Meanwhile, many, not all but many, Giants fans are spinning a narrative that Daniel Jones has played well throughout his career. And when Jones gives them no choice but to admit he's playing like a scrub, they blame everyone around Jones.

Jones' failings are considered more palatable to Giants fans because there is little accountability for the Giants and absurdly low standards.

There is an example of one difference.  There isn't such animosity directed towards Lawerence by Jags fans to the point where they will make hyperbolic (at best) or simply false claims about fellow fans who simply anger them by not sharing the same negative views of Daniel Jones as they have.

SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

I would be careful writing off Lawrence now. He is playing poorly this year as is his team. And the coach stinks. He played  hurt last year. He has the physical tools.  Stats don't always tell the complete story.

Whatever our thoughts may have been when the Gs, whether at the time we thought of it as the Giants or the Gettlemans, took Daniel Jones at 6 overall, 6 years ago, it should be clear to us all by now that odds of any QB- however highly regarded and touted- being truly successful, a difference-maker are not much better than the proverbially crapshoot. And that ain't exactly good.

Cheers!

Super Bowl winning coach Doug Pederson forgot how to coach?

Yeah, I'm not following that logic at all; Person was the same coach that took them to the Playoffs last year, but now he stinks? Moreover, while stats can be deceiving for a short deration, they tend to depict an accurate representation of the players ability over time.  I suspect Lawrence will rebound to be the same QB he's demonstrated to be over the last two years.

Coaching is not exactly a linear thing as is any career path. Look at Bill Bellichek ; look at Coughlin. And as much as I hate the coaching marry go round and all the bad coaches the Giants had; I really didn't feel like firing Coughlin was a bad move at the time. This team obviously lost some discipline and, I remember them losing a bunch of game in like the last 2 minutes of a game.

And what is this anyway? We're writing this guy off as a bust and, the next Ryan Leaf?

Look I have not watched a Jags game in awhile, but when I did this kid was oozing with physical talent and ability.

I really do not know what Jags situation has been like lately, and cannot remember now who said this -- but you can tell QBs by the look in their eyes; "there is the coach I got this look and there is the look of deer in the headlights." Which of the 2 QBs have what look?

I don't know anything about the Jags front office but I suspect that if Schoen called and offered to swap QBs even up, the Jags would hang up after they stopped laughing.  If the Jags called Schoen and offered to swap QBs, Schoen would make the deal in a heartbeat.  And, to those Schoen bashers, I suspect every other GM in the league would do the same.

Just heard this:

Last two games were 1st time in Jones career he had consecutive games with 2TD passes and no turnovers

I've heard that 3 times is a charm so that is my prediction for tonight.

Got fired in Philly. Good OC. Lousy coach.

Fired for taking orders from the front office to tank a game and play a 3rd string QB after winning theme their only SB in franchise history. Bad coaches don't win super bowls.

Retire this topic. We would've crushed Dallas tonight if Lawrence were the QB.
