Someone mentioned which might make sense
The reason lots of qbs aren't really developing in the NFL anymore
Is that they get so much better training now in high school and college
With 7 on 7 and other coaching techniques that they didn't do 15 years ago
Is that they reach their peak much earlier
He mentioned how Trevor Lawrence is the same player now as he was as a freshman in college
It might make sense
I remember hearing qbs saying they never heard 75% of things  in college 5ha5 they learned in the NFL
Maybe this is a big reason why these QBs don't seem to get better

The college game is becoming less and less like the NFL.   Admittedly, the NFL has adopted some of the college games, but overall, there is a stark difference.   The talent set that allows a player to excel at the college level is not the same as the talents needed in the NFL.

In the NFL, QBs need to make fast, usually full-field reads.  In college, QBs often just do half-field reads or pre-determined reads.

The college game has a larger running/movement component, while in the NFL, QBs need to be able to play at least part of the time in the pocket.

In college, QBs are usually throwing to wide-open receivers.  The receivers at the NFL level they are throwing to would be considered covered at the college level.

The NFL offenses and defenses are more complex than what you see at the college level

It's an interesting topic. Tom Brady weighed in on this a few weeks ago. I thought his comments were interesting as well.

I remember Parcells had his checklist for drafting a QB. He didn't want any part of a rookie QB if he didn't think that player was sufficiently developed in a quality college program. We are definitely in a new era.
