First, let me say I despise the sports betting industry and especially how ESPN has hopped into bed with these businesses. Having said that it looks like a sports book accused Singletary of point shaving when he gave himself rather than take the TD. I hope he's considering suing the poster. It's a terrible thing to accuse an athlete with no basis in fact. And these sleazy businesses need to be checked hard.

i think going up by 2 scores there also secures the victory, but with our luck, you leave nothing to chance. it was the smart and correct call as it gave them no chance to win essentially.

This entire sports betting fiasco, and the example above, is yet another in a long line of things which irritate me to no end.

Admittedly, I have absolutely zero interest in gambling and am sick of the "glamourization" of all the commercials and advertising shoved in our faces regarding it.

It's bad enough that these professional players are scrutinized if they're even found within a mile of anything related to gambling, or even a damned Bingo sheet at a Church-led Bingo night, but to suggest point shaving in a scenario where giving oneself up to close out a game is beyond over the top.

If I were Singletary, I would ask my legal team to pursue slandering charges against whomever is making outrageous public suggestions such as the above.

You can't even enjoy a Giant win without some f'king a$$hole trying to p!$$ in your Cheerios, for heaven's sake!

Take that filthy ba$tard out back to the woodshed and teach him some manners!

Geez Louise!

I've heard of $hitting in someone's Easter basket but pi$$ing in cheerios is a new one for me! :D

The NFL created this. The NFL has been in bed with Caeser's, Draft Kings, and Fan Duel officially since 2021, and quietly before that.

I completely agree.

First this story is driven by the cesspool (since Musk bought it) that is Twitter.

Second, I think some people are just so focused on the gambling aspect that they fail to understand the purpose of the teams playing the game is to win.

Giving himself up at the one-yard line gave better odds of winning (since it's nearly impossible to lose a ball on a victory formation snap) than going up 13 points and giving the ball back to the Browns.  Everyone remembers what happened in that Chiefs vs Bills playoff game with even less time on the clock.

Plus, having to play more downs is also an opportunity for players to get injured. Essentially ending it there was indeed the right call.

He's a public figure. He'd lose that case as he would have to prove that the poster knew what he was saying was false. Good luck proving that.

I'm no legal expert so I have no idea if there is any use in taking that kind of action.  I do think that NFL PR should be going out of their way to squash this kind of nonsense.  Especially given their embracing of gambling
