I think its a timing/confidence thing more than anything. unless his neck is that bad, no way he loses all that arm.

There is no question, in my mind at least, that his throws last night had less zip on them, even with excellent protection, than they used to. At 27, age cannot be the reason for that. It kind of only leaves health (presumably physical, but possibly also or otherwise mental).

Was injury on throwing leg?

If so that is the push off leg, that the issue

He was off balance on two of those throws and still had more zip on them than we are seeing now.

He doesn't throw like that anymore, not even close. So is it injuries, confidence, etc? Now everything has a lot more air under it, and even the mid-range passes dont have that zip

andrew_nyGiants

I still think that on some level he's seeing ghosts like he was last year.

We're in year 6, this is NOT going to get any better.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

At this point who cares. He is who he is, and that's a quarterback who comes up small when they need him the most. When Eli was a quarterback I always had confidence that he'd find an way and if he didn't we were surprised. Was anyone here surprised that in a winnable game he threw 0 touchdown passes? The sooner the sun sets on the Jones error the sooner we can return to being respectable.

GloryDays

I think he can still throw it long and with a zip, however in fear of batted balls and interceptions, he throws them softer and lower.
Defenses are more and more deploying the Zone, two-deep safety schemes, so airing it out is not as effective, leading to more interceptions. Jones was so roasted for his turnovers that his game has been effected

I used to be able to do many things I can't do anymore, what does that prove?
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

This is also just a highlight reel, so of course you don't see the bad throws and misses. In 2019, he was 23rd in deep ball accuracy. It's not like he was amazing relative to the average NFL quarterback. He showed promise. It didn't materialize.

It proves you're no longer 27.  ;)

In the meantime Daboll and Co. have to find out what's with going on with DJ's arm. Is it in his head, or is it a physical issue with his arm, neck, or knee?

All I know is if he doesn't get this solved we may see Drew Lock sooner rather than later.

Was at the game last night, it is just bad how he cannot hit a deep ball.  My friend and I were wondering if the injury in his neck included some nerve damage that may be impacting his arm strength.

That video is more intermediate passing, which I saw him do yesterday.  A deep ball, like on the free play was never his strength.  That's why I wasn't a Jones supporter even when he showed promise. A franchise QB leads the receiver and it's 6, rather than a jump ball.

I thought he had some nice passes last night he zipped in there, but he never was a guy who defenses were scared of going over the top.  Injuries or not.  Like someone else said he is who is.
