This was a game we should have won. There is nothing better than a win over Dallas. That said I can't stand the "we were so close" and "we are making progress" and all the other lines like that to try and make us feel better over a loss.
We lost. Good teams overcome adversity and win these games, bad teams look back and take solace in some minor things that went well.
Did certain things look better, yes, but at the end of the day we lost a game good teams win, we are 1-3 and facing another tough game next week.
I want a win over Dallas, not we almost eon or we should have won.
Blame the coach, blame the owner, blame the QB blame anyone you want, at the end of the day we are 1-3 and not 2-2 or 3-1.
Progress maybe but we are still losing games we should win and I am tired of loser's Lament.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

I hear ya, Len. I feel like I'm getting more apathetic which each loss.

It's like a see-saw with this team. One area gets better but another area gets worse. And now who knows how long Nabers will be out.

It's disappointing knowing that this team could be 3-1. On the other hand, they are a better team than last season.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

agreed. the only solace i can take is that was the least ass whooping we've taken from dallas in a while. usually its an absolute slaughter.

The majority of NFL games "could" have gone the other way. Good teams execute in the big spots and turn those iffy situations into wins. Bad teams don't. We are very obviously the latter, and we have been for some time now.

Absolutely. You could literally copy/paste some of these posts from the McAdoo, Shurmur, and Judge regimes.

We haven't closed the gap with Dallas by getting better. Dallas closed the gap by getting worse. The Giants are still a bad team which they keep showing us every week.

I'm not sure why anyone would compare the Giants with what a good team would do.  They may be improving, but they are still a ways from being a good team.  Personally I'd rather see them lose 20-15 than 40-0.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Maybe, but at the end of the year, say we are 6-11, or even next year, are we going to look back and say, well we should have won this game and if not for something we should have won that game, and we played that good team evenly but we lost.
We will still be 6-11 or whatever, losing is still losing no matter what the score is.

As BP said, you are what your record says you are and we are 1-3 and the loser's lament is all over the place.

I'm with you Lenn.

Every losing team always says "if this went our way, things would've been different" but the reality is, that's what bad teams are. Good teams have their missed plays too, but they have so many good plays they win the game anyway. The '86 Giants had missed opportunities galore while they were beating the bag out of you.

So don't get mired blaming individual players. Just like the last 12 years a different aspect of the team misfires every week. Big picture, the team as a whole doesn't play well consistently enough to win, from the coaching staff on down.

I tend to agree with you on this... because the Giants aren't a good team. They're an improving team that's rebuilding. The results show that too. Personally I'm encouraged by what I'm seeing. Yes it would be better if Jones was good and they were winning these games but he's not. Nothing they could have done about that besides not win 3 straight games last year with Devito.

I don't think it will be long before those losers laments go away. Just a QB away from a real contender.

andrew_nyGiants

Yeah, I'm not sold on them being an "improving team".

They're 1-3 and by all accounts 1-1 against 2 bad teams.

The fact that they couldn't adjust to the run defense of the Dallas game in the 2nd half was embarrassing.

It doesn't matter how close they get, they keep hanging L's and you're going to start seeing blow outs again as these players start making business decisions.

It's human nature (especially at that age), you start losing faith, you start evaluating your options.

There is nothing to point to right now, no identity, and with no W's, very little reason to stay.

It sucks!

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Len, you are spot on as usual

Several of the Giants' players also echoed this theme, in that "We lost", "We are 1-3", close only counts in horseshoes. They are tired of hearing excuses for losing and the same old, "Well; we played them tough".

Why do some fans feel the need to keep making excuses for losing?

I don't look at it is as making excuses, it is a recognition that progress has been made.  Not enough, but some.

Especially when very little progress head been made over the last decade. This is the first time in a long time there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
