If we lose this week I'd like to see us start making trades. Get draft capital and get one of the QBs

You make some great suggestions. Our offense is like it was in pre-season, vanilla. Defenses have nothing to really watch out for. Forget Jones running as I sure don't want him hurt but gosh where is the imagination to this offense
Jones can go 22 for 21 but our offense is so predictable. Who really cares how many 6 yard passes he completes.
Give defenses something to worry about
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

What he is managing to get out of Daniel Jones is an indication of how good of a coach he is.  This is the best Jones has looked in his entire career and while that's still not good...it's because Jones isn't good.  Not Daboll.  You don't think he'd like to complete a deep ball every now and again?  You don't think he'd like to be able to call 2 plays in the huddle and trust his QB to survey a defense and check at the line to which one will work best? He's running a high school offense to put Jones in the best position for success.  Personally I'd like to give him a chance to work with a real QB before assuming he's another Joe Judge.

Quote from: Ed Vette on September 28, 2024, 09:29:03 PMI don't think Schoen and Daboll have the balls to pull Jones. The main reason is they don't have a QB who will play better. The narrative is that Jones played well but Daboll has to know better. I agree with you. I would start Lock and see how he does at least one game but because of the stat sheet, I can't see them doing that until after they would lose at Seattle. 1-4 coming home against the Bengals would be a bad scene if Jones doesn't play up to the task.

The other consideration is to ride the Jones wagon and get the best draft pick that you wind up with. Would that result in Daboll getting canned?
I believe that is what is playing out before us.

The Giants biggest problem is Brian Daboll. Everyone blames Jones he is actually taking the fall for Brian Daboll. Carrying no kicker knowing his kicker has a groin injury, with roster spot open. Loss on Daboll. Coaching scared and making poor decisions of not attempting one damn pass into the end zone that is Daboll. You are looking at a team that should be at least 2-2 if not 3-1.

Everyone is talking about throwing the deep ball hasn't anyone noticed there is only some intermediate passes and that to mostly to Nabers. It amazes me that Nabers can get these catches but the other receivers just can't because they are weak receivers that aren't aggressive they have no catch radius they don't make adjustments. They are like a bunch of Goldilocks, it has to be just right.

When are they going to get the TEs involved in the passing game? That's coaching. I'm so sick of Robinson catching a pass on third down, 4 yards away from the sticks. That's just ridiculous.

I'd rather lose being aggressive they say on offense the ball finds itself to the aggressive players. That's the problem with Hyatt he isn't aggressive. Same with Slayton they are just speed guys that need everything dropped in a bucket.

I'm not a big Daboll guy he needs absolute perfection to win. He isn't aggressive he is more aggressive towards his own team than the opposition. When is the last time the Giants ran up the score. You would have to go back to the Colts game. He has no foresight his play calls are atrocious.

I want Kevin Gilbride back calling the plays. I'm done with Daboll when are you guys going to realize he isn't very good.

I just don't know what some expect this offense to do when they are so limited at QB.  Mike McDaniel has gone from super genius unbelievably creative offensive mastermind to bumbling idiot simply due to Tua's concussion.  That was one of the best offenses in the league last year in Miami and they can't score 10 points without Tua in the lineup.  Is that because McDaniel also is concussed and forgot how to coach, or is it maybe that there's not a lot of QBs in the league capable of running that offense the way it's designed to be run so Tyler Huntley and Skyler Thompson are going to torpedo everything they're trying to do even with Waddle and Hill as the WRs?  Daboll is out here trying to run his offense with a more expensive Skyler Thompson.  This is how it's going to look.

The kicker call was 100% on Daboll. But they still scored three TDs but converted none of the 2-point tries. Can't pin that on the coach.

Not attempting a pass into the end zone is also not on Daboll. He's not the QB.

I agree there are things Daboll definitely needs to improve on. I don't agree that he's not a good coach or the right coach for this team.

This is DJ's third coach. Maybe, just maybe he's just not the QB we need.

Do you think a 4th coach can get more out of Jones than what Daboll has done with him?

When teams lose, the QB gets the heat. But scoring is down across the league. According to Mel Kiper, the league needs to ban the two high safety defense that is limiting passing to short and intermediate throws.

Jones is tied for the NFL lead in completions over 10 yards and is second in completions over 20 yards. He just finished a game with a 72.5% completion percentage and the highest PFF grade in the entire game. IMO there have not been enough long throws to reach any conclusions. Jones is historically one of the league's best in throws over 20 yards.

So in our attempts to find out why the Giants are struggling, I would suggest it isn't entirely the QB but other factors. I think we forget that the coaches and the other 21 players all impact Ws and Ls.

You point out the two point conversion did he not hit Slayton on his hands? Talk about catch radius if the ball doesn't hit him in the 86 he isn't going to catch it.

Look these two guys have gotten to the playoffs together. They can do it again but they both have to improve big time. They can't continue this dink and dunk offense. Do I think another coach can do better with Jones, I do think he will. I feel Daboll has made him so conscious about turn overs he is trying to be to perfect and will take the short pass and safe pass. Basically he has taken the aggression away that he played with when he was a rookie. Remember this the same guy that threw 23-11 his rookie year in I believe 12 games. He was throwing 2 TDs a game.

We're not disagreeing on the 2-pt conversions. None were made.

The Jones we have now is not the same as when we got him. A myriad of issues have contributed to his decline in performance.

Bringing in another coach continue the dysfunction. We can't keep changing batteries... sometimes the remote control is defective.
