So Travis Kelce, a first-ballot HOFer, is not doing much in K.C. this year, yet Theo Johnson, a mid-tier rookie would be "lighting it up". How is that a fact?

You don't have one shred of evidence that Daboll has to run a high school offense because his QB stinks so bad. He has never stated why he has this offense. So you can offer your opinion. But please if you would ,stop offering your opinions as facts.

Daboll did answer the question as to why the Giants don't throw the ball down the field. He stated that two high deep safeties are limiting the Giants to short and intermediate passes

If the Giants think Jones stinks so bad, then he would have been benched in favor of Lock
or DeVito. Instead Daboll has praised Jones with the "locked in" comments as well as previous ones alluding to Jones being the smartest QB he's ever been around.

I would suggest the Giants are struggling to score because: they are dead last in rushing yardage; they have TEs that are used only for blocking and lastly, Daboll is ultra conservative coach by nature.

I think the "expensive version of Skyler Thompson " is the least of Daboll's worries. That's my opinion ... not a fact.

If Theo is so good, I have two questions:

(1) Why did no GM including ours want him in the first two days of the draft (ie first three rounds)?

(2) Why was he not very productive at the college level?

It's definitely not a fact.  We can agree on that.  Just like we can agree that everything I said was quite clearly my opinion since as you may be aware, I'm not a member of the coaching staff.  So any person who says anything about any aspect of the team on this particular board or any other board are giving their opinions.  That's kind of the point of all this.

As to Jones...what is Daboll supposed to say?  We'd be a top 5 offense if the QB could throw the ball 30 yards down the field accurately and recognize coverages?  What good does that do?  He's gonna cover for his guys because he's a good coach.  And when he replaces Jones next season, IN MY OPINION, we'll see what this offense is actually capable of doing.

Patrick Mahomes.

You do realize Kelce has Mahomes, right? And with Mahomes, Kelce - who is 10,000x better than Theo - has 0 TDs this year. And he's averaging less than 4 catches and less than 40 yards a game.

Do you consider that "lighting it up"? Do you really think Theo is better than Kelce?

C'mon man. I know people are frustrated with the team, but nonsense like this won't help.

I NEVER said he was better than Kelce so please don't put words in my mouth. I said I believe he would light it up because of Mahomes and because of the kids skill set. Nothing more. Kelce may be underperforming but he will be there in the end

That's not an accurate statement.

Daboll needs a QB to reach the top of the fridge. None of them can but Jones is the tallest midget so he has the best chance.

I don't know why you and others point to Daboll's recent statements about Jones as proof they're sold on him. Coaches don't throw their QBs under the bus in public. It's called respect. Jones is not a difference-maker in leading this team to wins.

I would first stop calling plays out of an obvious fear of losing or getting blown out. Stop managing the guys to play with a  boring and timid demeanor. Play to have fun which they love to, with a tough mentality to look to crush the opponent; go for a big win, not just to eek one out. At 1-3 and probably 1-4, he does not have much to lose?! but a lot to gain.

Quote from: Gmo11 on October 03, 2024, 07:44:47 AMWhat he is managing to get out of Daniel Jones is an indication of how good of a coach he is.  This is the best Jones has looked in his entire career and while that's still not good...it's because Jones isn't good.  Not Daboll.  You don't think he'd like to complete a deep ball every now and again?  You don't think he'd like to be able to call 2 plays in the huddle and trust his QB to survey a defense and check at the line to which one will work best? He's running a high school offense to put Jones in the best position for success.  Personally I'd like to give him a chance to work with a real QB before assuming he's another Joe Judge.

I can see why you might think that, but I thought the play calling was good. The fact that they couldn't run the ball against what was the worst run Defense in the NFL was a big part of the problem.  If they could have connected on the deep shots that were open, it could have been very different.

They don't need to play well. They need to make plays.

This is a good discussion with 10 days off and one which may see us all change our mind as the days pass.

For me...

Offense:
Throw the ball early and offer to our TE position. It will open up the run and open up Nabers. There is NO excuse for this as we saw Bellinger catch and run in his rookie year - now he can't do it 2 years later?...and Theo if he were on KC would be lighting it up and that's a fact!

Defense:
Try Chatman alongside Big Dex and see what the combo can do

Daboll has really screwed us up by not trying to use the TE. Every defense knows when we are running (screen has helped disguise) but the head coach play caller stopped calling the one play that works!

Use the TE like everyone else does. Try.
exactly.   well said. something better has to come out of the ten day break....I know Nabers can't play but try something different.
I am not there quite yet ... but Shoen and Dabble have not shown the ability to

1. select good talent (besides Nabers) and #2. do not have the coaching ability to use what they have to compete....

heard yesterday ....Big Bill has 70%  of his staff all picked out for next year...hopefully, McDaniels is part of it....good O coordinator and worked well with Brady for many years.

it's time for Big Bill to come back home !

Not arguing against the Face mask call in the Falls game was the absolute worst thing he did not do in that Game. That was the worst call in NFL history...maybe if he complained the head ref may have gone to the other ref and say are you sure about which player was grabbing Face mask ? There may have been time for " New York " or supervisors watching game to whisper in the guys ear    you got that wrong. Critical point game and may have cost the Giants a touchdown.

Win or lose, I sincerely hope this is Daboll's last year...he is not HC material...

OC is his ceiling...with Jones or any other QB...he's failed in so many aspects of running game and his staff, it's very clear he's in over his head

Bring back BB o another with proven experience...the sooner the better
