1-3 is a horrible position to be in if you want to turn things around.  1-4 is virtually impossible.  If the Gmen lose this week, the path to changes at QB, HC or GM at the end of the season increase a lot.  Am sure all know that.  Good luck Gmen.

If the Giants go 1-4, they move much closer to not being a playoff contender. When that happens, the Giants need to seriously consider benching Jones to avoid being on the hook for the $20 million injury guarantee.

Mara would never allow it - at least not for the injury guarantee.

More potential meddling to keep this franchise from getting another championship.

Phil: I have a very good feeling about this game.

The Giants have had extra time to prepare (and get healthy) AND Seattle played Monday on the road.

More important... the Seahawks' next game after the Giants is a divisional contest against the Niners on THURSDAY.

Bob

PS. It's probably the worst scheduling ever. I said "probably" because Thursday's game is also at home, so it's not quite as bad as it might have been
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

I am not so sure.  I am sure Mara would express a strong opinion against it, but I have no reason to believe he will override the decision of his GM.

I agree

I have a hard time believing Mara would overstep in the GM and HCs decision, given they were going to trade up for a Maye if the cost was right.

Sadly, they may have to consider it sooner rather than later even if DJ is playing well-enough on his own as decided on the basis of risk/ reward cost. Frankly, I don't think the odds of them making the playoffs have ever been very good. More likely than not, they may end up simply playing spoiler. In any case, it seems more than likely that the question of odds will remain firmly attached to next season's Draft.

Cheers!

In today's NFL every team has a good chance to win each week no matter who they might be playing. The short week helps the Giants, but they have to travel to Seattle and play in what is usually a very hostile environment. Geno Smith is a very good QB and the Giants do not do well against good QBs. I don't know any injury status of the Seahawks. I know their OL is weak and the Giants can exploit that like they did in Cleveland. But if Walker is healthy and those receivers are healthy, it's gonna be tough. Still, I do think the Giants have a good chance here. If Nabers does not play things will just be much harder. No matter what happens Sunday, I don't see the team making a playoff run. They have been fortunate that the offensive line has remained healthy and fully intact--rare in the NFL. That could change though and it worries me if it does.

Larry: I agree.

There is a scenario where he plays "well enough" and they eject him anyway.

To my recollection, you're the 1st of us to point it out.  Possibly "unfair" but business is business.

Ideally. He won't walk into 5/12 sacks he did against last year's Hawks.

But the line has improved. So again, ideally - he won't.

Did we see how well Seattle played the other night, even in a loss. The only way the Giants could possibly win is this is a sort of 'trap' game for Seattle.
Otherwise we would need to score over 30 points and that is our average for 2 games not one.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

It's one thing to trade for a QB (and even then Mara had strong hesitation), it's another thing to bench a guy for non-performance reasons. I think Mara would see that as being against the "Giants Way".

The Giants Way has gotten us nowhere in the past decade, it's time to adapt, it isn't his decision to make.
