Quote from: katkavage on October 05, 2024, 05:36:30 AMIf true it is another reason why the Giants are a losing franchise. "Can't deal with his father?" That's as pathetic excuse excuse as you will ever hear

Do you really think this fanbase that couldn't deal with a star WR who proposed to a kicking net would be able to deal with an entitled QB prospect who was coached by his father and was the biggest classless showboat in the NFL during the 90's? I am less worried about the Franchise than the fanbase that tends to sour on any player with a personality.

Could possibly have been two wins instead of losses

Many of the missed played could have been critical, as some would have also gone for TDs or First Down

It goes both ways

If he wins them games, they can. If they can't handle winning no. And they can continue to enjoy mediocrity and worse. Did Daddy win any rings? The Giant fans "endured" sexual misconduct and drug use by the best player in their franchises history.

4 Aces

I love Eli Manning and still see him in a business capacity today, and he's all class. And I don't disagree with Tiki here. Manning was clutch. He also failed to make the Playoffs almost every year of his career, which included plenty of "big moments" where he could've made a difference. How about stopping the bleeding when the Giants collapsed vs. the Eagles in 2010? Division on the line. Keep PHI and GB out of the playoffs. That Giants team could've won the Super Bowl.

Eli had Plax, Toomer, Nicks, Jacobs, Bradshaw and the best OL in the league. And 2 great coaches in Coughlin & Gilbride. When Eli was not surrounded by elite talent he did not fare well either.

Trench - you may get your wish with Milroe. Giants like him, and Daboll ran that style of offense when he was the OC at Alabama. He knows how to use a running QB. Would be an interesting fit, and they know it.

Hoping we draft:

1-Jaxson Dart

2-Cam Ward

Ewers would be my top pick, but injuries are a major concern to me

Question for my BBH college football gurus:
Is Ewers better than Drake Maye?

At least we know that we are limited to a lowish ceiling by our QB. The Jets being bang average with their QB and roster is actually quite impressive. It is a reminder that success is a complex mix of factors that includes QB, other top end talent, roster depth, coaching, organisational strength, 'culture', schedule, luck and more.

Quote from: Giant Obsession on October 04, 2024, 03:04:34 PMAHEM, NOWHERE did I say in any way shape or form that I wanted them to take over the team.  Just evaluate the current college available QB's.   What, you want OUR scouting department to evaluate QB's ??

They would merely be a committee of 3 (scout in depth, analyze and give opinion to the powers that be) the current crop of college QB as it potentially translates to today's NFL.  Much like in 1979 when George Young and Ray Perkins personally scouted and worked out and analyzed Phil Simms, a sub .500 QB from a 1-AA college (Morehead State).

They would be the guys I want steering the QB selection, not our Moe, Larry, And Curly scouting department.  Use your experts, use your resources.  And that ain't Shoen or Daboll at this point.

Considering Daboll worked with Josh Allen, and several other QBs, and also liked Jayden Daniels who is playing fantastic as a rookie, I think that we are in good hands, should they decide to go QB next year.

Also credit to where its due, while I still maintain my stance, DJ played a solid game in a tough environment last night.

With the season on the line, in a hostile environment against a 3-1 team, and with the Giants missing their elite number one WR, Daniel Jones played one of the best games of his career.

I am having a hard time buying into Tiki's and Dave's claims of:

I hate it because I love the kid, and I want him to be that guy. But it's just not there. And I'm not saying it's terminal for his career, but I'm just telling you, in big games, the Giants are gonna have to rely on somebody else to come through to be that guy.

This is the danger of rushing to judgment.   It's like if people had declared that Tiki would have never been more than a fumbling machine that just ran for a lot of yards.
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

Fast Eddie Felson

Dabol wants an RPO QB in the worst way - like his days in Alabama. Dan Jones is not that guy. Watching him run yesterday was like an accident waiting to happen. We all held our breath.
As well as DJ played yesterday, everything Tiki said was spot on in my opinion.

The standard bear for "it" is Patrick Mahomes.
Agree. It should also be noted that there was no question the best QB on the field during the Minnesota Playoff game was DJ.

Shedeur has some great nuanced parts to his game like the touch he puts on a ball or the arc to get it over a defensive player but drop before the next layer of D.

That said, am I nervous about 2nd gen kids from privilege?  100%.

Yeah like that bum, Eli Manning and his brother, Peyton. Privilege ruined their careers.

Eli and Peyton started for several years in college, both stayed an extra year,  and were the best available QBs when drafted. Arch is a 19 year old backup and people are counting down the days till he is eligible. While that might not be textbook privilege it is overhyping due to a famous family name.

We don't know who the best QB available will be. But if he comes from privilege, that doesn't matter one bit if he is the best and can help you win. The other stuff is just noise.
