While I still believe we're a 7-win team, I see a young nucleolus starting to form.  Hopefully, we won't need to use a draft pick on a RB next year.  I love our young secondary and believe our LBs are underrated.  As hoped, JMS is getting better.  If the Giants find another weapon and RT next year, they could be dangerous.  Plus, we don't have any major decision to make in FA.  I think we're two key players away from competing.

RG is much bigger need than RT, Can Roten is 36 and wont be back and we have JE under contract still

QB, Returner, RG, and maybe a player or two on defense and I think we are extremely close to competing.

We won't win constantly until we get a real QB.

That's one of the key players :).

That discussion can wait until later though; DJ played a good game today and I don't want to focus on that position.  Although, his second half performance was shaky and akin to the clev game, it doesn't negate the first half performance.  I'm stocked about some of our young players!

Jones played well and deserves credit and a week to be happy for him.  Do I think he limits the offense?  Yes he does but with their personal they have to play within his strengths.

I completely agree.

I've been saying for quite a while now Simmons can be a force on defense if they would just line him up on the LOS and let him play. I believe he could equal Parsons
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

I completely disagree, Len.  Simmons does not project in our future plans.  One ST play doesn't make him an above average player, nor does it eclipse his terrible 50 PFF rating and measly 6 tackles. He is what he is, a role player who can occasionally flash.

Matt - how can you say we're close when many think we dont have a franchise QB?  That's a huge % of being close which is having that foundational piece.  Of course if DJ is now a foundational piece, I think you are spot on.

Great play by him today, but equal to Parsons is respectfully, extremely hyperbolic.

For the same reasons I thought Wash, Chi and Hou were close in past years.  With virtually the same offensive players, the Commanders are now an offensive juggernaut, thanks to drafting the right QB. The same was true for Hou last year.  You get the right guy, and you're set for years.  I really like our young talent, but I don't see us taking the next step...

Which qb is playing great
Also let them start getting more and more film.on these qbs
Stroud is not playing as great as last year and they got diggs
Not that he isn't playing well
But the 2nd year usually tells you if they are able to rise up

I think he has more value as a rush backer. He's got a great motor and he reminds me of a less powerful Kiwanuka.

Parsons is much faster and dynamic and has better instincts. . He's a Swiss Army knife and Simmons is more of a camping multi-tool.

Still, I'd like to see Bowen put him in more.

I wouldn't gauge how close we are by this game. Seattle's defense was atrocious and it came down to a blocked field goal. Seattle has a very good QB, very good receivers, a decent running back, but a bad offensive line, a bad defense and a rookie head coach who was also bad today. Nice gutty win for the Giants in the road but I would only say that as long as the offensive line remains intact and plays at this level they will be very competitive.

Goff and the Lions put 42 points on them. I recall saying, don't keep Seattle in the game because Geno can bring them back before you know what's happening. But in reflection, the minimum score should have been 36-13. Then the failure to convert TDs instead of FGs and this game should have been a blowout.

In another thread Daboll is being criticized for eating the clock in the 4th quarter and not going to his TE later in the game. Except he doesn't have the ball in his hands.

The Giants Defense played an excellent game. Both the Offense and Defensive game plans were very good. Seattle's Defense is definitely weak but the Giants took advantage of it. I think the Seahawks can catch the Niners in a funk.
