He is listed as 340 I think, but commentary said yesterday he told them 360, if that is true, its crazy how well and fast he move, literal freak of nature.

Absolutely. i zeroed in on him for a few plays and the way he just collapses the pocket is ridiculous. he beats you with speed, power, technique... Its really crazy to watch. most guys 360 can barely move off the LOS. im tired of hearing chris jones is the best IDL. DL is tied for second in the league in sacks by .5 sacks. its virtually unheard of for a guy his size. he is making an early case for HOF if he keeps it up.

Jones HAS been playing well. It is the others around him who stepped up for the win. The Giants had the better Offense, Defense, and Special Teams for the day. We haven't said that in a while. It was fun to watch.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you read is not what I meant - Robert McCloskey (if he were on this Forum)

Quote from: MrGap92 on October 07, 2024, 01:09:04 PMThere is already a topic, made yesterday, about Jones stats in the game, why is there another?

How come you are projecting Jones numbers and you did not do the same in the other topic about our edge rushers?

May I ask why this post bothered you?

The stats I posted are not just from yesterdays game but some from the entire year.

Since you've been here for a while you know that I usually post DJs stats after every game, especially when he does well, and you've stated before that those posts have also bothered you.

If my positive posts about Daniel Jones' play bother you so much, then maybe you shouldn't comment on them because you're not bringing anything positive and constructive to the conversation, but only to tear down.

Im now headed back to work

Quote from: B1GBLUE on October 07, 2024, 01:11:03 PMhe has definitely stepped it up. he's been crisp. almost every throw yesterday was exactly where he needed to put it. as others have stated, he just needs to keep it up. working the TE yesterday was working really well. he still needs a signature game though. like the comeback against arizona last year. he was unstoppable.

Good observations, and I agree

He creates this thread of DJ's line item stats after every game and he has every right to do that without some 'been here 5 minutes' thread monitor wannabe hassling him.

The real question is, with all the DL talk in several threads, why you help take this thread off topic with DL talk?  Physician heal thyself.

Yeah I agree, as Daboll has said he's been locked in these last several games. The others around him are now elevating there game

Jones had a very good game, and it was particularly commendable given Nabers was out. I thought this was the best Jones has looked since the playoff win in Minnesota two seasons ago. He was decisive and generally accurate, including on the deep ball throws to Slayton in that one drive. He also moved well throughout the afternoon, I thought.

His performance started to decline later in the game, and while some of that may have been due to defensive adjustments by the opponent, had the Giants given up the field goal and lost the game this decline likely would have been more of a conversation topic. But that's not what happened, and even with this decline his overall performance was still very good in my opinion.

Jones has had very good games before. Ones before yesterday that come to mind were the performance against the Vikes I mentioned, his performance in New Orleans a few years ago, and perhaps the Colts game in 2022 (albeit that was less than 200 passing yards).

What Jones has not been able to do is string a series of even three good games together. That has never really happened in his career, if memory serves. Generally when he has had a game like yesterday (which there have been a handful of in the previous five seasons), a mediocre or bad one has generally followed within the next game or two.

Let's see if he can break that trend and deliver a string of consecutive strong games. That would be fantastic.

No, I mean better than that. We apparently have a different definition of the word "strong", as it applies to QB performances. And there's nothing wrong with that.

He didn't win last 4 so don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. Everyone here who "gets on" Daniel Jones has given him deservedly high praise from his performance yesterday. A comment like that seems intended to go backwards and needlessly relitigate. We don't need that. We need to enjoy the win and keep pushing so we can make something out of this season. Some will continue to nitpick and project while others will be happy with what they see in real time as being enough.

They are both ok in terms of fan perspectives

Jeff,

I am seeing something different from DJ (at least up to this point in the season).  In the past, DJ would be up and down, and you never knew what he would bring each week.  This year, after a rough game one, he has been playing well and improving every week.  That sort of slow, steady improvement is a new wrinkle in his NFL career.

While one can't predict the future, it does seem that DJ is becoming a bit more consistent as he gets used to playing with NFL-caliber protection and receivers along with NFL-caliber coaching (the one pillar of support he has enjoyed on and off in his career, and now has 3 years in the same system).

Agreed. Let's hope it continues

He wasn't responding to you, yet you don't like it when you get pushback and say it's uncalled for. Btw, when a Moderator Emeritus suggests you chill, a man who has been here since 2007 and goes back to the BBWC, I suggest you reflect on it, instead of reporting it.
