I am seeing something different from DJ (at least up to this point in the season).  In the past, DJ would be up and down, and you never knew what he would bring each week.  This year, after a rough game one, he has been playing well and improving every week.  That sort of slow, steady improvement is a new wrinkle in his NFL career.

While one can't predict the future, it does seem that DJ is becoming a bit more consistent as he gets used to playing with NFL-caliber protection and receivers along with NFL-caliber coaching (the one pillar of support he has enjoyed on and off in his career, and now has 3 years in the same system).

Fair enough, Rich.

I found his performance yesterday to be materially better than any of the others this year. Most notably, he was way more effective in the vertical passing game, which is an ingredient that I would argue had been missing prior to yesterday. I also think the fact that he was able to have the game he did without Nabers said a lot about the performance.

My comment about stringing a few strong games together was simply to highlight that I thought yesterday was a clear step up from his other performances this year (for the above reasons), and I'd like to see him put a few games together that are at or near this type of level. If he was able to play the way he did yesterday without Nabers, it is exciting to think about the possibilities when he gets him back, which I assume will be the next game.

Btw, when a Moderator Emeritus suggests you chill, a man who has been here since 2007 and goes back to the BBWC, I suggest you reflect on it, instead of reporting it.

I don't see anything wrong with what I posted as I was responding to the conversation is all. I apologize to everyone here

Quote from: Trench on October 07, 2024, 01:44:44 PMHe didn't win last 4 so don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. Everyone here who "gets on" Daniel Jones has given him deservedly high praise from his performance yesterday. A comment like that seems intended to go backwards and needlessly relitigate. We don't need that. We need to enjoy the win and keep pushing so we can make something out of this season. Some will continue to nitpick and project while others will be happy with what they see in real time as being enough.

They are both ok in terms of fan perspectives

Dave didn't say wins, he said  strong performances, which they were, so don't let facts get in the way of your bad story.  Passer rating at or over 100, except for a meaningless hail mary INT.  6 TDs, the 1 meangless INT. 68% comp %.  7.0 Y/A trending up.  238 YPG trending up.

But hey, thanks for giving me permission to fan the way I do.  Glad to see you recognize that you're a nit picker.  It's ok.

I have been wondering about when Nabers will return.  It was a bit concerning that he never moved up the protocol despite the benefit of 10 days.  I am hopeful he will be ready next week, but I am far from certain.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 07, 2024, 01:40:47 PMNo, I mean better than that. We apparently have a different definition of the word "strong", as it applies to QB performances. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Can the condescension.  I don't need you to tell me it's OK to have my opinion.

Not so sure he "disappears". When you have a lead, most coaches go conservative and run the ball more to take down the clock. In that third down throw, Slayton was blatantly held but of course, most officials don't have the cahunas to make a call against the home team.

I also read that Nabers had a concussion at LSU.

If he did, I am surprised this site didn't pick up on it

Okay, I didn't see the game watching the Mets, but highlights are really liked. Much better on all levels, and Nabers being out forced Daboll to trust other pieces. And it worked..until late late in the game they dominated.

So, yes, a good overall effort by Jones, who has played good enough lately  to win games, but not great. Nice throw to Slayton..got Theo involved..all good attacking the middle, etc.

Tuna always said winning on the road is special, and they have. Defense has really stepped up lately... but 2-3 is what it is.

Seriously SMH.

All I was saying is there is nothing wrong with people seeing things differently. It was a totally general comment. It is a point that gets made here all the time. There was absolutely zero condescension intended there. And I frankly don't think it read that way at all.

Completely agree, all perfect examples of development that simply was not executed properly previously.

In fact, examples of all four being done improperly exist at the worst times in the earlier games this season.

It was exciting to watch. I hope it continues

Quote from: sxdxca38 on October 07, 2024, 01:27:45 PMMay I ask why this post bothered you?

The stats I posted are not just from yesterdays game but some from the entire year.

Since you've been here for a while you know that I usually post DJs stats after every game, especially when he does well, and you've stated before that those posts have also bothered you.

If my positive posts about Daniel Jones' play bother you so much, then maybe you shouldn't comment on them because you're not bringing anything positive and constructive to the conversation, but only to tear down.

Im now headed back to work

Looking forward to this weeks topic and analysis.
