Is the Giants franchise headed in the right direction?

Quote from: Philosophers on October 18, 2024, 08:45:32 PMNope but in fairness would fans of other teams have the detailed knowldege to know which teams are on the rise?  That would require a lot of knowledge on players and position groups.

I was saying among knowledgeable fans. There are plenty of NFL fans who don't know much about other teams, but you have a fair number of fans who do. Pundits too, who don't necessarily have an axe to grind either way. I'm talking about those types of observers. Not fans with a very limited knowledge base.

I am not sure those fans exist.  To know the ins/outs in detail of so many teams seems pretty daunting to me.

They exist as a byproduct of gambling and fantasy football.

They are two solid receivers away and Arch Manning away from winning titles.
Slayton and Robinson are not going to cut it. If at best Slayton is a third option, Robinson is to small he has no catch radius. As for QB I don't see any QB that is going to put the Giants over the top coming next year no one that is going to scream playoffs and titles.

What about Nabers? What recent SB winning team had 3 solid WRs?  KC has no WRs and they're 5-0; they've won two straight SBs with limited talent at the position.

I guess I'm spoiled with Cruz, Hakeem Manningham. Plaxico and Toomer. Adding another receiver wouldn't hurt would it.

Change his last name and is any on a Giants forum trying to tank 2 season in a row to draft him?

NO!

This is absolutely bonkers. I've never seen comments like this in 30 years of discussing football online.

Almost half of those who responded to this poll indicated they felt the franchise is heading in the right direction.

Today is just one game, but do that many people still think that? What is that view based on, honestly?

I'm not going to let one game alter my perspective.  The Offense was terrible today, and you saw the def just give up in the second half.  This game doesn't change anything for me; we're still a few players away, but heading in the right direction.

It doesn't change anything for me either. I didn't think we were headed in the right direction before today though.

In this QB-centric of a league, when you have one of the worst starting QBs in the league and none of your backups have any genuine promise, it's impossible to be headed in the right direction in my opinion. Particularly when your owner is in denial and still believes the QB is good or simply not being given enough of a chance.

When I feel we have a solution or at least reason to be more optimistic at the QB position, I will change my mind. Until then, I won't.

The results kind of speak for themselves, year after year after year. So does the continued denial.

I said they were minus the biggest need and if that wasn't addressed then no. Though I'm far from sold on Daboll I think if he had a promising QB rather than a dead end at the position maybe he could succeed.

Nabors is a stud but the Giants needed a QB in the worst way. They should have drafted one.

100% agreed, Jeff.

Just wondering, does anyone that voted "Yes, they are certainly going to be a perennial contender over the next few years (with this season being a blip)", "I don't know, it's too soon to tell" or "They are on the right track, just a few more pieces" want to change their vote today?

What I saw today was a franchise headed in the wrong direction
