The way I'm reading his comments, he's basically admitting to being frustrated and not having his head in the game. Either way, Banks needs a lot of coaching and probably some tough love. This is not okay. Lack of effort is a cancer that spreads quickly if left untreated.

He gave up! I doubt he is the only one with tape like that on the Giants
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!

This is the fault of the NFL where there are separate rules for bringing down a running QB as opposed to a RB or receiver. Defenders are afraid to touch the running QB and just try to box them out of bounds. This is not limited to Bank or the Giants. I watched the 49ers just let Mahomes run wild yesterday whenever he took off because they don't want 15 yards tagged on.

I am beginning to wonder if Banks will be the number one CB the team (and we the fans) thought he would be when he was drafted in a trade-up in round one

If Banks starts next week it is a gigantic indictment of the coaching staff. His effort yesterday was grotesque. He needs to be benched and it needs to be made abundantly clear that they will no longer tolerate him quitting on any plays. It's time for that young man to be held to account. There should be no room on the team for dudes who mail it in.

When he is engaged he's an excellent CB.  It's damn hard to be engaged when the offense is doing what it was doing yesterday.  That's not an excuse.  He's gotta make that tackle even if Hurts is getting the first down anyway.  Or at least try to make that tackle.  It's a bad look and a bad play.  Playing hard is the absolute minimum requirement.  At the same time I understand it.

Banks like many other "talented players " have a ton of potential but no work ethic or desire to play their best on very play. This is becoming an issue for him.... that is why Parcells would at times draft a lesser talented player that would play 100 % all the time over a  "great talent" with no desire to get better or play 100 % every play.
Like the Raider coach said a couple of weeks ago ...he is seeing some players making business decisions on the field .....and responded but we can make business decision too!

That's why now is the perfect time to hit folks like you are the 85' Bears. If the refs are going to penalize you for roughing for talking to the QB/RB/WR then you might as well lay the wood, and get something out of it. Clean, and hard, no head shots. I would require DB's to tackle low, for ball carriers when near the sidelines not to just run out of bounds, but to make low contact with a would be tackler. Intimidate, make the opposition have to think about their physical health. With all these "business decisions" it's the perfect opportunity to take an advantage.

Banks should be benched next week and made and example of. I hope he was berated aggressively after the game as well. I actually don't think he should see the field next week at all, let alone start. That's terrible what he did there. It's important for other players to see that there are consequences for stuff like that.

I am not defending Banks here, but I do like that he admitted he flat out didn't make an effort there. I hate that it happened at all, but at least he didn't compound things and dig himself deeper by inventing some xxxxxxxx story about it.

Still, to me he should be benched next week for the entire game. That's outrageous and can't be tolerated.

IF you want to make a point with Banks....

SUSPENDED WITHOUT PAY.

It is folly to think some of these way overpaid guys care about a little criticism.

But it will never happen,

Not sure that's even possible. You can cut him obviously. But I don't believe there is discretion of whether or not you choose to pay him or not.

If he gets away with this with only a 'sorry' is sure says a lot about Daboll and his philosophy in coaching if there even is one.

Imagine what Coughlin would do if a player didn't make an effort on every play?
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.
