Where were you on this day? I remember being with my Family at the Buffalo Wild Wing watching the Giants vs Steelers. This was after Sandy Hurricane and we didn't have power at home. My friends this was an infamous day in Giant history it marked the beginning of the end for winning ways. I remember the Giants being up and losing this game to the the Steelers. This team has not been the same ever since that game it has been a downward spiral ever since.

I would suggest the problems started even before the 2011 miracle Super Bowl victory.  Prior to that win, the talent had already started to diminish

Exactly.  I well remember how most of the board was so down on the Giants that those us that had kept the faith and defended them were accused of being too happy and celebratory when they won it all.

For me, though the real downward spiral started with "The offense is broken", and Mara making Coughlin fire Gilbride because Reese didn't deal with the fact that the OL had gotten old.  Have they had an even average OL since then?

The Giants going into that game were 6-2 lost to the Steelers made them 6-3. After that they went 3-4 and thus began the losing ways. Everything was looking good and then everything fell apart. Players aged fast and the organization has not recovered ever since.

That steeler game was the culmination of all that went wrong with the giants.

I can't remember if I cried when I read about his widowed bride. But something touched me deep inside, the day the franchise died.

This was the beginning of John's major meddling. Prior to that, Wellington and then John didn't involve themselves too much.

As someone who loves to converse on the history of this storied football organization, I can't remember a time when such a profound statement, as yours, has left me speechless.

The funny thing is that I remember the game. I knew it was going to be a very difficult contest for them to win and that they'd need to play the way they did in their 2008 matchup to have any chance to win. Needless to say, the 2012 Giants were not the 2008 Giants. I was disappointed they didn't compete in the second half but I wasn't really surprised either. They were an inconsistent group that season and that game was a microcosm. In fact, the Giants went 3-1 against the AFC North in 2008 and only lost to Cleveland. Well, in 2012, they went 1-3 against them and the only team they beat was Cleveland! Figure that one out!

I mainly agree with others here that problems surfaced before the season and the firing of Gilbride was definitely a sign of end times. I believe that's when question marks started to get thrown at Jerry Reese because the talent depletion was becoming evident.

Then, when the team started something like 0-6 to start 2013, well, yes, end times had arrived.

I hope you enjoyed your wings. At that time, we had just moved from San Antonio, TX to Rio Rancho, NM, across the river from Albuquerque where I started a new assignment, but the Giants were going nowhere fast!

I said the same thing to a friend about 2 years ago.  That was the day Cruz took a nasty late hit in the endzone.  He was never the same after that game.  They looked like they were going to take the division and it went to xxxx.  Got destroyed by a bad Bengals team the next week.  Got destroyed by Atlanta and Baltimore.  Plus, the loss to RG3 and the Redskins on a game they should have won.  Their victories down the stretch were blow out wins over the Saints, Packers, and Eagles.
