Quote from: todge on October 27, 2024, 06:52:42 PMThe Jet fans and the media all thought the Jets were a QB away from being a Super Bowl contender. Rodgers would be the missing ingredient. Just goes to show that the other 21 guys and the coaches all impact Ws and Ls. But we'll still blame Jones for the Giant problems and all we need is a high Draft pick to solve the problem.

Caleb Williams and Jayden Williams have been lighting up the scoreboard with really good QB play. Chicago and Washington both lost their left tackles. Both have struggled to play well. The Giants lost their left tackle and the expectations from many is that DJ should be able to overcome that.  Interesting.

1. The Giants defense in exceeding expectations -- and that is a feather in Shoen's cap -- great drafting and free agent signing. The Jets defense is underachieving due to laziness basically or being overrated.

2. Jones had all day to throw minus last sunday all season and, guess what? he played like Daniel Jones and this team ended up losing 1/4 games, because he is Daniel Jones!

You can flame me all you want ... with the D plaiyng like that; and Nabers; and oline protecting like that ....if the Giants had Aaron Rodgers they would be 5-1.

I think we're just in the final stages of the DJ evaluation lifecycle narratives. As in, we had the whole "he's secretly good, he just needs support" phase last year and it was blown up this season with his play under near ideal circumstances (about as good as one can ask for). So now the argument can't even be "DJ is actually good," it's that a hypothetical other QB wouldn't make them a contender or other teams weren't solved by adding a QB (as if continuing with a mediocre QB is somehow a superior path). And once he's gone, it'll be he only wasn't good because the Giants ruined him or Daboll isn't a good coach or Schoen isn't a good GM.

When the Gmen aren't playing and I can watch RedZone I am consistently blown away by how more prolific the rest of the NFL is at moving the ball down the field compared to the Giants. It really saddens me how we are stuck with a 1950's offense where we inch our way down the field needing 12 plays to score a field goal. It's beyond frustrating.

Not expecting a great performance from the Giants tomorrow, but somehow Dallas getting shellacked on national TV eases the pain

Thanks!  And to pile on a bit about another thread where I named a few backup QBs who would be # on our team you can pencil in Jameis Winston onto that list. He had no probably throwing 300+ yards on a horrible team with no name receivers.

I was at the Chargers vs. Saints game yesterday at SoFi, my first time there, very nice stadium. Lad McConkey had himself a game.

Glad to know you made it home safe and sound!
