Maybe we drafted the wrong receiver out of Tennnessee in 2023...

Cedric Tillman was the other receiver there. He was the big hero in Cleveland today. Huge 99 yard, two TD game including the game winner in a shocking upset of the vaunted Ravens.

Our guy (whom we took with Tillman sitting there on the board) has one catch for 6 yards on the season...

This has all the look of a Parris Campbell/Terry McLaurin type gaffe.

What went so wrong with him?  He's got a lot of talent?  How did the Giants evaluators including coaches get it so wrong?

I don't know, but we're getting a lot more production out of multiple other receivers, so it can't all be the coaches' or Jones' fault.

I think they fell in love with his speed and didn't look closely enough at his ability to run proper routes at this level.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

Let's not forget - despite all of his speed, Hyatt dropped in the Draft all the way to the 3rd Round. A lot of teams passed on his measurables for a reason (s). I went back and looked at his scouting reports. Not only were there concerns about his development as a complete WR who would need to learn a full route tree. There were concerns about his willingness and ability to do so.

Hyatt was in Daboll's doghouse all year. I wonder if a lot of that had to do with his attitude and behavior in the WRs room where they review and strategize all day reviewing game tapes and working with coaches

The strange thing Ted is that in interviews once on the Giants he sounded like a humble mature man willing to listen and learn.

Sometimes a coach just does not like a player.  Really wonder if there is some of that.

This has been rehashed, but there were some major question marks about him coming out of college. Lots of people thought he'd be nothing more than a deep threat due to a lack of ability to create separation in a full route tree. That's likely what the Giants have seen in practice and the Giants don't currently have the personnel to take advantage of that skill.

He also had the third most snaps of any Giants' receiver last year and was still barely effective. I don't think there's any reason to believe he's in the doghouse. He's just doesn't have the skills to be a fully effective NFL receiver.

I was a fan of Tillman coming out of the draft. Would definitely rather have him instead.

Good point. We should throw in the fact that teams are playing a lot of two high safeties taking away the long pass. Deep speed is Hyatt's game. That's created a dink and dunk league now.

I wanted Ladd McConkey, we could have safely traded down to around 20 and get him plus other picks. Last night he got over 120 yards and two TDs!

He also has Justin Herbert as his QB.

Yeah - that helps a little.

Nabers wasn't great last night but he is obviously extremely talented.

Would have been cool to see a McConkey jersey running around again!
