They basically got him for free, did he have a large cap hit?

Ravens get DJ and a 6, just for swapping 5s I believe.

Not too sure "giving up" is correct.

I suspect they view him as the future.

But between this, the Bryce Young (yes I know he started Sunday), Rosen and Fields.

Some teams clearly have no issue moving on from dreadful qb play. Perhaps some people just have the need to be seen as 'the smartest people in the room' regarding Jones

Ed,

I think the team will give Richardson another chance. That said, you have to think that, at this point, the team has zero confidence that Richardson is their quarterback for the future. They no doubt hope he will be, but there really isn't any reason to believe he has a good chance of being one.

Guy has only played 10 NFL games. Talk about making a quick decision.

I guess this is better than waiting six years to figure out your QB isn't good.

Jones had an excellent rookie year throwing 24 TDs in 12 games. He was on pace to set a NFL rookie record until he suffered a high ankle sprain and injuries to his OL. Jones quickly established the fact that he was a starting QB in this league. In 2022, he led the team to a road playoff victory.

On the other hand, Richardson has not looked like he has NFL arm talent. Pulling yourself out of the game when it's non-injury related is a huge red flag. He hasn't even shown flurries of competency yet so he doesn't deserve the same treatment Jones has received.

Oh, they'll have to give him a chance again. I mean Flacco is what 37? I just think giving up wasn't the correct framing.

They were both horrendous prospects that were unworthy of being drafted in the first round.

What boggles my mind is that some Giants fans can see the flaws in other teams' players but not our own.  :ok:

It's understandable. What isn't is why our idiot owner thinks he's the guy. If you haven't done so go back and look at Jones stats from his last year at Duke. It screams mediocrity. Why Gettleman thought he was worthy of a top 10 pick is baffling to me. I was willing to give him a fair chance to prove he wasn't the guy but he hit that mark three years ago. Now we're paying to satiate desire to be fair to the guy. No other owner would have given Jones six years.

Give the Colts credit for seeing it isn't working and making a change. Six years earlier than we did lol

And then there were all the lovers of that pick who insisted that if we didn't draft Jones, there were several other teams all set to pounce on him. Even our own 'homer' Phil Simms said it, trying to justify Jones at #6.
Jones was, at best, a late 1st round pick and even that would have been a stretch.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

He's been terrible..another combine super star without a clue. Then came his tap out, which was absurd, and poisoness to his future, if any.

You can't play him and not have a modicum of concern for the players busting their tails.

He's a joke. Pathetic
