Quote from: Topshelf21 on October 29, 2024, 01:04:08 AMActually, you read my post correctly. I do mean Bill Belichick to restate my original post.

How is coaching not the problem with the moronic penalties during tonights game that contributed to our loss tonight? How is coaching not the problem with the "let's try to look so smart/cute" with the moronic 2 point play that will be replayed ad nauseam for a month. How is coaching not the problem with the walk in the park punt return for a touchdown? Just a few tidbits from tonight to reinforce my opinion.

The "we're a good QB away" has been debated to death and I won't waste any time with your statement. As far as Tracy, I enjoy the fact he is a late pick that appears to be a budding star (I am concerned with his durability). The WRs remain to be seen. I like Nabors and Slayton, but Hyatt is a lost cause and Wandale looks like Sean Astin from the movie Rudy every time he gets hit....flying halfway across the field. I think the D is improving and I agree with you on that.

You say we lost by 1 TD that was a punt return for a TD. We also got super lucky with the 2 TD's that were taken away miraculously from the steelers....just wanted to make sure you remember that part of the game if you had.

You also claim we are close to being a legitimate playoff contender. I completely disagree. I believe with Belichick we become a winning team in the playoff hunt before we do with dumb & dumber as our coach and GM.

That's how I feel. I won't type everything out in all capital letters because it feels like you're trying to YELL YOUR OPINION over mine and that because you do, you feel as if your opinion is more important or valid than mine, which it isn't. It's your opinion, that's all. You are no more important, nor are your opinions than anyone else on this message board.

I bleed blue the same as you Gap. I route for the same team and have so for 53 years.

Angrily responding to a post of someone who is a fan of the same team as you is old and tired.

Come on Gap, do better.

To each their own, I think hiring a fossilized relic from the past to turn the team around is just about the worst possible thing they could do. If you disagree so be it. There is zero sense in it in my eyes.

Understand your point of view and respect it!

I still believe that old dog has enough hunt left in him to bring the GMen back to a playoff contender quicker than anyone else can.

The juice is definitely worth the squeeze with little Bill. He's got a chip on his shoulder and he wants back in to prove to everyone he's still the man. If we don't grab him, Dallas will. We can then lament on how we should have went after him status post the cowboys returning to dominance in the nfc east.

Daboll's schtick has run its course. Slick Schoen is pretty in a suit and speaks impeccably, but he is not Brandon Beane....not even close.

You seriously think Daboll who can't answer a question in post game conference in the coach to take us deep in the playoffs even with a different QB? I don't.

Thank you for your time Gap.

I will say if my original post came off as directed right at you, I apologize as I am just beyond frustrated as we all are

As far as press conferences goes, I mean, what else is there to say? The QB has dragged down the team immensely, they have some injuries and are 2-6, not sure there is a whole lot more to say there to be honest

Quote from: Topshelf21 on October 28, 2024, 11:39:26 PMHere is what I would like to see.

Start after the Carolina game and fire the head coach. Bench DJ. Bench anyone who doesn't give 110% effort. If Schoen gives you flak for firing Daboll, get rid of him too.

Bring in little Bill and let him right the ship.

We as fans deserve a PROFESSIONAL football team that we spend time, money, and give tears and years off of our lives for you as a team. This is UNACCEPTABLE and changes need to be made. I will not attend another game in person, nor pay for another year of YouTube tv, nor will I purchase another uniform, nor will I espouse being a fan of what used to be a respectable franchise.

Please make changes immediately or sell the team. We the fans deserve a better product than the substandard product you are masquerading as a PROFESSIONAL football team.

I as a fan am choosing to not purchase anything New York Giant fan related until major changes are made. I will encourage other New York Giant fans to do the same.

The fish stinks from the head down and I believe this is an apropos statement regarding your organization.

You know, this is the perfect letter to write to John Mara. So, why don't you put this to paper and send it via snail mail and let's see if his proverbial "light bulb between his ears" turns on. If you think I'm pulling your leg, the truth is I'm serious as a heart attack; you really should do it.

Personally, I feel very bad for Daboll, Jones and the players because they're out there working their tails off and they put out a good product tonight against a very tough team in their building.

It's gotten to the point where it's beyond criticism right now. Their best player on offense (i.e. Thomas) goes down for the year and the offensive performance spirals out of control. I thought they did much better tonight but the line is clearly broken and has been piecemealed back together. It has impacted the offensive performance.

The team is now resigned to achieve "moral victories" because they no longer can compete for a full 60 minutes. They can give you 15 minutes. Sometimes it can be 20,or 30 or even 45. But currently they just don't have the horses to go at it effectively for the full 60 minutes. Players are playing hurt and a number of them just can't go full speed for 60.

But the QB is a limiting function on offense. #29 got his bell rung and may end up concussion protocol. Too bad because he and the offensive line worked well together in tonight's game. #1 had a case of the dropsies again. So, some areas of concern here.

If you do send the letter out, let us know if John returns correspondence. Good luck!

Peace!

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)

Quote from: kingm56 on October 28, 2024, 11:43:35 PMIt's was a joke; however, I don't need Tommy D winning another 3 meaningless games that cost us a legit prospect.

Jones played a good game and then blew it at the end but I have never been a fan of the "suck for Luck" method of building a team. Cleveland, Chicago, the Jets, and Cincinnati (until recently) have been drafting at the top of the draft for decades and can't find a QB. A top 5 pick gives you less than a 50-50 chance of drafting someone who will perform to our satisfaction on Sundays.

You know what troubles me about posts like these....they just seem like excuses to keep going along the same path and keep Jones.

Firstly, your claims are overstated. Lets looks the 2018 draft class

Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, and Lamar Jackson

Then there is the 2020 class....

Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, Jordan Love, and Jalen Hurts. I think all are happy with their selections.

Of those ... you can only say one is a true bust. The others took years to get to where they are but, are the Jets and Browns really in a better position after jettisoning Darnold and Baker.

Furthermore, you don't want to draft a QB? Fine, but were you pounding the table for signing a Derrick Carr, Baker, or Darnold  or Kirk Cousins in free agency? No because those guys suck too right? It is not a upgrade to Jones right?

Eventually you are going to have to take the leap of faith about moving on from Jones. Not to mention moving on from him not only guards against mediocre QB play, but his horrible contract.. Heck Daniel Jones is Mike Glennon with better straight-line speed. In fact, I would think Glennon behind that line before Thomas got hurt would have been better!

Not going to read the whole thread, so I apologize if this was mentioned.  When they got called for ANOTHER illegal man downfield my first thought was they need to ditch the RPO $h!t, but then on replay didnt think it was an RPO, seemed like a straight play-action, but I could be wrong.  The guilty party just drifted a little.  Aside from all the penalties, Nabers was awful today.  2 drops, the td where he didnt get his foot down is as good as a 3rd drop.  And, his illegal motion penalty was straight laziness.  He lolly-gagged out of the huddle.  Jones does need to make sure everyone is set before sending him in motion.  If Nabors is going to talk $h!t about Jones saying how he was open on certain plays, then he damn well better catch the effin ball and not get called for lazy ass penalties.

And, I wont even mention the hospital ball he threw to Slayton when he was open.

And if they don't keep Jones then what is your plan? It sounds like you want one of the backups to play and hopefully they will lose and you can get a high draft choice.

I'm not sure how you arrived at a place where I would not want to draft a QB. If that selection comes with the 15th pick or later then I am fine with it, especially this year. Jones could play lights out the rest of the year and the Giants would still be looking for a QB next season. I'm just not willing to throw away the rest of this season to draft in the top 5. I am also not interested in selective reasoning by taking a small sample from two of the last six years to make my point.

If they play Jones and "deserve" to draft in the top 5 after the season, then you will get your wish and we can enter our 8th consecutive rebuilding year. Just don't ask me at mid-season in 2025 to bench or trade players so we can draft near the top half of the draft again. I have no appetite for that.  I wait all year for 17 games. Don't take that away from me after week 8. The 2024 season isn't over.

They likely won't need to do anything special to draft in the top-5.  But, I would much rather draft in top-5 than 6th-10th.  The extra 2 wins that would drop them down would be meaningless.  See: the 3 games they won with DeVito as the starter last season.  Only realistic games for them to win the rest of the season are Washington, D*ll*s, and Carolina.

I see Shedeur Sanders and then Ward. After that, there are several QBs who look very good and there isn't a lot of daylight between them. So, this year, drafting a QB in that 6-15 range will get you one that would be a significant upgrade to the play we are seeing now and you don't have to reach for an athletic project like Malik Willis or Anthony Richardson. Ewers is probably at the top of that group although he needs some polish, but the next 6-8 are pocket passers, scramblers, or a bit of both. Daboll could pick the best fit for what he wants to run.

I also think Sanders is a bad fit for Daboll's offenses. He is a statue who holds the ball way too long and takes a ton of sacks. He is also succeeding against what is turning out to be a very weak schedule with a QBR that has him about the 20th best QB in college football behind ALL the guys in that second group (Ward, Klubnik, Nussmeier, Allar, Milroe, Beck, Gabriel, Dart)  I mentioned earlier. So, getting to the top of the draft to take him would not make me happy. I'd put him at the top of the list for bust candidates in the 2025 draft.

You say that now, until the combines and pro-days happen and then all of a sudden the first 3 off the board or 3 of the first 4 are QBs.  Including 1 that people weren't expecting to go that early at the beginning of the college season.  I think the days of getting Roethlisberger or Mahomes 10th are over.  Teams who need a QB are not banking on them lasting because the teams ahead of them do not need a QB.

If your comment is to say it is too early to be talking about that, I couldn't agree more, yet it remains the topic that has completely taken over the board. We have more football to watch before we really know what the draft will look like and where the Giants will be selecting.
