Not true. Jones was dead last in turnovers among starting QBs in 2022.

As I said in another thread, I am of the view that Jones should now be benched moving forward. Unless he wants to waive his injury close, I just don't see how it is any longer in the best interest of the organization to play him at this point at 2-6. The downside is too great, and there really isn't any realistic upside.

His days as a Giant are finally nearing their end, and the Giants need to preserve the ability to make sure that that is the case.

As for Daboll, no, I would not advocate an in-season firing of him. Firing a former NFL coach of the year for literally 1.5 bad seasons from an organization that has been god-awful for over a decade seems silly and over-reactive to me.

I have already expressed my view on a similar question elsewhere and earlier to wit:

Some of you folks are reacting as if you had an expectation that they would beat the Steelers last night, if only... As they didn't, it becomes a question as to whom to blame, or to blame most.

Leaving Ronnie Barnes aside, the leaders in the blame game- exacerbated as much by false expectation as by disappointment- are Brian Daboll and Daniel Jones or, for that matter, both almost equally. I suppose it's not unreasonable given that if they do not beat Carolina in Deutschland in 2 weeks, they will enter the Bye with the same 2-8 record as last year.

While no doubt we believe our judgements to be objective in essence, they rarely are in fact given our already well-formed biases. Consequently, I am less interested in judging than in simply speculating that Brian Daboll will continue as Giants HC and play caller for at least another year whereas Daniel Jones will be released before mid-March next year to avoid owing him any of his remaining contract money which will save them a bunch even with a $22 million Dead Cap cost.

It does, however, leave open a question as to whether and when they may sit DJ to avoid the possibility of triggering his $23 million injury guarantee if he can't pass a physical by what will be the start of the 2025 League Year? Will it be risk/reward as usual? Quien sabe?

Where Daboll is concerned, I can only say that I am both surprised and impressed at how highly he is regarded around the League. Indeed, I see speculation- there's that word again- that should the Giants let him go, he will be the first guy signed to HC another team. As for who may become Jones's successor, I can't even begin to speculate, conjecture, or guess with any real conviction until much later.

Cheers!

Daboll said something like "he's learning and working hard" about DJ. By his 6th year he should not be working hard.  He should be getting it by now.  Slower game and making mostly good reads.

Why do it now? No point to it.   Just ride the train off the cliff once again and then evaluate in the off season.

to avoid being stuck with Jones for a 7th year. If he gets injured it almost guarantees that he's here next year.

The funny thing (or sad thing) is that Daboll gave more praise to 1sy year QB Daniels in his presser than he every did to DJ. All he ever says about DJ is how hard he works, which in itself is telling. Its the QB equivalent of "she's got a nice personality".

He should always work hard, it is moreso the learning for me.

You'd think he was talking about a rookie QB sometime.

He has the desire, and gives all he has, he just doesnt have the goods.

Does it have a pinkish hue?

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 29, 2024, 08:20:41 AMLast season Daboll fought with his DC.  This season he is fighting with his starting QB.   After a great start his teams look sloppy, uninspired and generally outcoached by opponents.   As much as I want consistency, I am not seeing it with Daboll

I am also concerned with Schoen when you consider first-rounders like Neal (couldn't beat out a PS OT), Banks (benched for lack of effort), KT (underwhelming), and even Nabers has come down to earth with killer drops and an injury.  WonDale is not lighting it up as a 2nd round WR and the same can be said of third rounder Hyatt
Agree. Throw in the fact Schoen signed five Free Agent guards ( Eleumenor is best used as a G) and totally ignored backups at both tackle spots. The "firefighting" management style is poor leadership. It results in desperation last minute signings like Hubbard who so far is horrific. A 9 PFF score who appeared incompetent at the position.

Eleumenor is a RT, as he was last year on a top 10 OL.

Idk where you pick your cherries, but this is ridiculous.

Yes, he's played just 11 games in his 8-year career at Guard.
