Aside from QB, how do you feel Washingtons roster stacks up vs the Giants?

Washington has been a mess for a long time like the Giants, but are now sitting at 6-2 in large part to Jayden Daniels.

I was just curious how everyone here thought our roster (outside of QB) compares to theirs in the same regard?

Here is how I see it judging the rooms of each position as a whole:

RBs - Equal
WRs - Giants
TEs - Commanders
OL - Giants

Edge - Giants
DT - Giants
LB - Giants
CB - Commanders
S - Giants
K - Commanders
P - Giants

Medical Staff - Commanders

That puts the tally by position for me at:

Giants: 7
Commanders: 4
Tie: 1

So overall, I feel the Giants roster as a whole is better. But obviously QB is massive.

IF you did this for over half the teams in the league you'd find that the Giants are really not that bad of a TEAM but they have a VERY bad QB.  And that is not something they can overcome.  Starting next year with a new QB at the helm they will start to reach their potential.  Just have to sit through the rest ofthis season and hope they don't draft another dud.

I am not going to go through and stack up the rosters but will say the big difference right now in these teams is the amount they are scoring/game.

Washington 3rd in the NFL 29.5/game
Giants    31st in the NFL 14.6/game

Geez that's so strange.  I wonder what the difference could be there.   /sarcasm/

When was the last time the Giants scored 30 points via the offense?  I truly can't remember.  I just don't see this getting any better for the next 3 years.  And about the Commanders, if the assessment above is true...Look at the difference a franchise level QB makes to a mediocre team.

As George Young said : show me a struggling team and I'll show you a team with a struggling offensive line.

With that in mind, the Washington Commanders biggest question mark heading into this season was their OL. Their GM rebuilt it in one year. Sure Daniels is good. But his protection is pretty good and they have a decent running game.

Meanwhile our flop of a GM signed five Free Agent guards (yes Eleumenor's skill set is best suited to guard). He totally ignored the tackle position in both Free Agency and the Draft. In desperation he signed a Practice Squad left tackle in Hubbard who was a total disaster. A 9 PFF score in pass blocking has to be some kind of record. Of course most blame the QB for the offense's struggles. But a QB can't be consistently productive being under constant duress.

So yes the Commanders are good. But you have to tip your hat to their GM who knows how to build a team.

Ironically, against Washington, without Jones playing QB

Last with Jones: 9/17/23 vs Arizona

Amazing... the line has been fine until Thomas went out. But your point of reference to denigrate the GM and the much-improved line is a replacement OT due to the Thomas injury.  :boooo:  :boooo:  :boooo:

Terry McLaurin is better probably than any Giants WR.  He is Daniel's only option and he still gets open.

I agree, I even give him a slight edge over Nabers. I was viewing the room as a whole.

If we are isolating each teams #1 exclusively, than I'd give Terry the nod. But I like our depth behind the top guy much better personally, granted, Slayton is a FA after this year.

Didn't you know All Pro OTs are easily replaced off the streets in late october?  /sarcasm/

The two teams match up strengths to weaknesses pretty well. Overall, the Giants are much better defensively, and the Commanders are better offensively. Each aspect seems to be consistent with the play of the other aspects of each team. The anomalies would be the Commanders RB to Run, and the Giants Pass Rush stands out above the rest of their defense. Daniels lifts up the Offense and the Pass Rush uplifts the Giants Defense.
