Seems like Ward and Sanders are the top 2 QBs in the draft as of now. The 3rd QB is yet to be determined. I myself  am starting to really like Drew Allar. Tomorrows game is huge, Ohio vs Penn.

Allar has completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,640 yards with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. An injury knocked Allar out of the Wisconsin game.

Dabolls son worked there last year so he knows all the ins and outs and personality and all the stuff they deep dive into. Looks like Allar dosent panic, can make all the NFL throws and reads coverages and goes through his progressions. Add to the fact that him and Theo already have some rapport too , also seems like he likes throwing to RBs too so maybe him and Tracy could have a good connection.

Good Film on him

BrownE: Honestly, although I've been touting him for more than a year already, I'm a bit disappointed in the certain aspects of his results so far, but really no sense getting into that right now because today is THE game, not only for Allar but even more so for Franklin (I'm not his biggest fan). Let's see how both of them (and, probably, Penn State's backup QB too) perform in a game that is theirs for the taking. Also, Penn State is highly likely (win or lose today) to make the new playoff format, so there will be at least one other "big game" to use to assess Allar. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Video is great (I do disagree with his views on about 1 of 4 or 5 plays but IMO that's about average). Bob

Bob,

Sent you a PM on this subject before I saw this thread.  Allan finally has me believing

IMHO he has a low football IQ. He has every single trait you'd want out of the first pick overall but he makes some questionable decisions on the field. Penn State's offense with him under center has been underwhelming at best. It's almost as if their staff calls plays conservatively to avoid situations where he'll make a boneheaded play.

The goal line series near the end was some of the worst play calling ever.

3 straight dives up the middle. An awful pass play with only 2 guys running routes. The RPO keeper was wide open and would have been a walk-in TD.

But Allar's decision to throw it into triple coverage on 4th down was pretty terrible, too.

He also fumbled going into the end zone resulting in an OSU touchback and then threw an int in the end zone late in the 2nd quarter. The int was more on the receiver then on Allar but it was really tight coverage and they needed the points. It probably wasn't the best decision to throw it into that coverage.

Dart low key owning the SEC, kid threw for 515 yards and 6 tds yesterday without his #1 Wr (who's still leading the nation despite missing 3 games) his #1 TE who'll be a day 2 pick, his LG, and #1 RB. The 515 was against Arkansas who Tennessee lost to and couldn't do anything offensively. He leads qbs in most stats with 50 less throws than the rest. Georgia next week will be the game for him.

Not a fan of Dart. He's been wildly inconsistent. His M.O. is putting up 3 monster games (like his Arkansas performance) sandwiched around a bunch of mediocrity.

It's pretty telling that he's near unanimously ranked out of the top 5 in QB prospects during a year with such a lackluster class to choose from.

At this point, I'd much rather take a flyer on a later round guy this year - Rourke from Indiana is my favorite, or even a couple of guys like Weigman from A&M or Smith from Houston who have been injured. I'd then follow that up with a #1 pick on one of the top guys in the next class.

This class is far too weak to reach yet again on middling QB talent.

If we are going late round I'd take Diego Pavia from Vandy and use him as a Taysom Hill do it all piece and draft a guy next year.

I do like Pavia! Not as a franchise QB, but as a football player (like Taysom).

Stringer: Sad but true.

Would you believe it if I tell you I guessed three of the four play calls?

My only miss was on 3rd down, when I thought Allar would keep the ball and run it, but maybe there's something about his injury they're not tell us.

Bob

PS. IMO, the two teams will meet again this year. Further, I'm willing to bet anyone (assuming both teams make the "playoffs") that they'll rig the seeding so they MUST meet again.

If he played for anyone other than Kiffin I'd be fine drafting him, but Kiffin has a long history of producing stud college quarterbacks who go on to be hot garbage in the NFL. Now if we were to replace Daboll with Kiffin I'd be fine with it but I don't think Dart if capable of replicating his success without Kiffin pulling the strings.

They should have lined Warren up under center and pushed him forward as many times as it took to cross the goal line.  Absolutely stunningly bad playcalling there.  I felt the ghost of Joe Paterno as we plunged into the middle of the line over and over (of course back then our OLs would have made that play work).

Some of the criticism is valid to a point as it pertains to Drew Aller, but can someone here show me a QB prospect that coming out of college is mistake free? Probably not. Having said that, I (like most here) am absolutly tired of see Jones under center. IMO we should get the best player possible in the 1st round.

2nd round give me:

Drew Allar

Carson Beck

Garrett Nussmeier

Dillon Gabriel

Jaxson Dart

Cade Klubnik

Kurtis Rourke

Round 1 best player avaiable

Round 2 ANY of the QBs metioned above

Round 3 : a college player that played RT for all is not most of his college career

Round 4 : The best QB left from the list above.

Young team, we need to find a QB, take two from the list, Get rid of Jones, Lock and DeVitio. Get Taylor, Mariota or Flacco to be QB1 next year and let the two young guns learn and battle it out in camp
