As a Giant fan for almost 56 years, I now want the team to lose everyone of their remaining games. I am very tired of meaningless wins in November and December that have no correlation to what the team will be like the following year. The Giants lost out on a QB this past draft because they won too many garbage time games. Washington has a promising future because they did not win games down the stretch and now have their QB. The Giants must trade players this week for whatever they can get in return. It's over for 2024. The offensive season starts now. If they are a smart organization they will recognize that.

You'll never hear a Mara-led Giants team say they want to lose. No NFL team will. You can't deliberately throw games.

The question is will they start doing sensible things that a team that admits it's not going to the playoffs and wants to maximize its future outlook would do?

Including (but no limited to):

(1) Benching Jones at this point, as paying him risks triggering his exorbitant injury clause and tying the Giants to him for another season

(2) Trading players for picks before the Tuesday deadline

(3) Focusing on developing younger players by giving them more playing time, where applicable

Kat,

In a preseason prediction post, I thought we were a 6/7 win team; however, I stated the worst thing that could happen is to win between 7 - 9 games, which keeps us in purgatory.  I either wanted to win 10+ games, or less than 3...nothing in the middle!

Would you accuse Washington of tanking last year? Of course not. But they traded two defensive linemen and more and didn't win the rest of the year. Silently tanking.

They won't need to throw games.  They do a great job losing them when they are trying their hardest.

I understand the concept. Many teams have done it. It's also called "blowing it up", "rebuilding", etc.

But it requires an admission that you're not making the playoffs and, also, that the current makeup of your roster is not likely to ever have major success. Hence the only solution is to rebuild through the draft.

Will the Giants do that? I don't know. The players I suspect they're willing to trade won't get you much. Will they bench Jones to protect themselves from the injury clause? I hope they're sound enough to do that but you just never know.

Giants have a much tougher schedule down the stretch than they did last year. Can't see this team finishing with more than 4 or 5 wins. Last thing we need are those "culture creating" wins we had the last two year, but doubt they're coming.

The Giants have traded vets for draft picks at the deadline before.  They traded Leonard Williams, they traded Snacks, etc.

I hear you; the only issue, this years draft is voided of QB prospects.  We may have to wait another year...we'll see.

I don't care what it costs if they aren't high enough to draft Cam Ward I'd be willing to give up the farm to get him. You simply can't win with bad quarterback play anymore, and he's clearly the best of this years qb class.

My head agrees with you 100%.
But, next Sunday when we watch the game in Germany, I'll be pulling with every fibre of my being for us to win.
It's what I do.
Smell my cheese you mother!

You will get your wish. To the detriment of a bright Giants future.

Starting Jones looks like the best way to lose games.

In a divisional match-up, with 11 minutes remaining, he had 74 passing yards.

Just gonna have to suck it up for the remaining games, get out of the giant mistake of a contract, and move on.

That's it. We just have to admit a mistake was made and move on.

For anyone saying we didn't lose because of jones, the above is the post to see. 74 yards with 11 minutes left. What he did in 1st quarters matters, not just the 4th.

This team is so devoid of talent that even if no QB is worth the first round, another blue chip foundational player can't hurt.
