The Giants have more problems than Daniel Jones

Jones played a pretty good game (119.7 Passer rating, 72.5 QBR) yesterday, but the Giants still lost.

The defense can't stop the run to save their lives.

The team lacks talent because Schoen whiffed on his first two drafts.

Daboll's coaching and playcalling has been underwhelming

Even if the Giants replace Jones, there is going to be no miracle turnaround unless there are major changes (like we saw with the Texans and the Commanders) beyond QB.

They have quite a few other problems, he is the biggest of them though.

I think a strong case could be made that Daboll is as big a problem - if not a bigger - than DJ.

Playcalling has been atrocious all year. The team oftentimes comes out flat and looks like it's ill-prepared. They almost never make halftime adjustments that change the momentum of the game. I don't see him as a strong communicator but, rather, an emotional hothead. And I don't see any strong relationships with the players or any of them talking him up / defending him.

Agreed. Zero total passing yards in the first half is always going to be difficult to overcome. You can't have a special needs QB that continues to either put you in a hole to start games or falls apart to end games.

Yes, the Giants have many problems, especially lack of talent throughout the roster. Most teams are in the same boat. But the QB position is the most critical. They can't continue playing games with such a competitive disadvantage at QB.

Has any playcaller ever looked good with Daniel Jones as his QB? There is only one constant over the past 6 years and it isn't the playcalling.

Firing Daboll and bringing in a 4th coach for Jones totally goes against the coaching stability you posted about in another thread. Further, it continues to feed into the "we've done everything to screw this kid up" narrative/excuse that keeps this guy on the roster and the Giants smack dab in the middle of QB hell.

Nothing will ever be right with this team as long as they are saddled with him.

Yes, Daboll could do some things better. He has also coached more good games than Jones has played. Daboll is in the top 5 things wrong with the Giants. He's not #1 - Mara and his nepotism and undue influence will always be the number 1 problem. Jones is #2.

That factoid will be conveniently ignored.

If nothing else, they need a competent QB, in order to evaluate the rest of the offense properly with how much he holds them back.

They will have have to replace Slayton and Van Roten, along with adding depth at DT and finding at least one more CB. May need to replace Azeez, need to shore up the run D some, and get a RT to groom for a year or two behind JE.

Plenty of needs to go around. But that one is most crucial. Some these issues only came about from injuries to AT, Thibs, etc, their returns will also help.

Don't let me get started on Ronnie Barnes.

The thing is, the play callers have all been horrible, his weapons are horrible, his line is horrible, he has no support.

If none of these things existed, we would all see what he can really do and prove the naysayers wrong. He can go big time, he just hasn't had the right people to unlock it.

All have tried calling plays for Jones. All have failed. There is no reason to believe the next guy will have any more success. Daniel Jones is a coach killer. I don't see the value in scapegoating the playcaller until we have a competent QB.

By the way, I'm not in the Daboll camp either. I think he will probably be deservedly fired at the end of the season. But that doesn't do anything to fix the major issue at QB.

On talent rankings, the Giants rank consistently started with a "3" (and not 3rd).  So I don't think it's accurate to say most teams lack talent like the Giants

Stability is good when you have the RIGHT PEOPLE in charge.  I am not seeing anything either Schoen or Daboll does well that I can point to and say-  "give them time, and they will produce a champion"

How about the defense regressing? No pressure at all on Daniels. He could have made breakfast in the pocket. Poor tackling by the entire secondary outside of Pinnock. McFadden seems to be the only one who can make a solo open field tackle. BANKS is looking like a bust. The losses of McKinney and Love in 2 consecutive season with weaker replacements is not working. At some point you need to stop letting our best players leave and replace them with rookies and barely tested role players.

Has anyone noticed that other defenses treat tread Daniel Jones like he is Aaron Jones when he takes off running like a running back? Our D treats a running QB like he is wearing a red contact jersey begging him to slide or run out of bounds. We does Jones get crushed but we can't touch a running QB?

Giants have some good players. They can't be properly evaluated until they have an NFL caliber starting QB. Bring in a proper QB and then see what you have.

Or... turn over the entire roster and coaching staff, again, and let's see if Jones can evolve into a winner by his 10th season. Rebuild, Rebuild, Rebuild
