I am afraid if we keep Dabs and draft a new QB we will continue with too much dink and dunk.  Yes it's DJ but it's also Dabs.

I want an offense that has LBs back on their heels and safeties back period and a coach demanding that and a QB executing that.

Move on from Dabs.  Move on from DJ.

Was Dabs offense dink and dunk in Buffalo?

For me, the issues with Daboll is not the dink and dunk he has been forced to use.  It's the other things like questionable decisions and poor attention to detail.

Jones can't/won't throw the ball down the field. Watching him under throw receivers is painful.

To note: this is with/without Thomas in the lineup at LT.

I'm a proponent of coaches who develop schemes around their players' strengths and minimize their weaknesses. Daboll does that for Jones. He proved that in '22. The problem is that that style of offense is easily defended and can only go so far.

I'm not suggesting Daboll is an offensive mastermind. I do think he is a very good offensive coach. With the right QB in place, this offense will put up points with Nabers, Johnson, Robinson, Singletary, and Tracy. Scoring more points will help the defense.

But when he had to he was able to throw it downfield like the final TD which lead to the 34 yard TD by Theo. Why can't he do this in the first half?

It took Theo three tries to make that catch.

He also had 3 earlier drops that were catchable. I am not a DJ apologist. These are just facts.

The league as a whole has become more dink and dunk as defenses have shifted to more two-high safety in an effort to minimize big plays

Daboll hasn't been in Buffalo for the last three years now and Buffalo is still doing what it does. I don't think Daboll played a big a role as people here make it out to be.
Sometime you're just an offensive coordinator and it's okay. Spags wasn't a great head coach but he is a damn good DC.
I don't see a good head coach, I see a guy who is in over his head and blames others throws them under the bus. I don't see the main thing coaches need to have and that is being a leader.

I don't think he is a good HC at this point but I don't think he wants to run a dink and dunk offense as suggested by the OP.

He did take a QB with similar college accuracy as Anthony Richardson and help develop him.

No where in my quoted texted did I argue Daboll is a good HC.

That's not what I saw in the second half. He was whipping that ball around. As far as the first half sink and dunks they were called in as a substitute for runs. Like the negative pass to Robinson that was the play that was called in and Washington sniffed that out. Then you got Robinson who basically has catch routes for 3-5 yards. Nabers catching passes short of the sticks.
Then all of a sudden he goes of for 175 yards in a half. DJ was not the problem in this game it was coach Killjoy. The momentum killer coach. Him and his two point BS.

QBs fumbling is a momentum killer too.  And before we get excited about 175 yards of passing in the 2nd half lets acknowledge that the defense plays differently when their team is up 2 scores late in the 4th quarter.  DJ had a mostly good efficient game, but his turnover hurt just as much as any other mistake by the coaches or other players.

Again, I am not arguing in favor of Daboll so I am not understanding why you are coming at me with this.

Nothing like that. You are most correct that fumbles are momentum killers.

I think Dabs' resume has been inflated.  I do not believe he "developed" Allen solely.  I absolutely dont believe he redesigned Bama's offense the way Lane Kiffin.

Two high safety is not a new safety scheme.  Also it is run only part of the time.  Vertical passing has not ceased because of it.  Some teams are successful vertically now.  You can scheme vertically against it.
