Quote from: Gmo11 on November 06, 2024, 08:21:44 AMI read the Steelers would have been interested in Slayton before they went to Williams but the Giants weren't really open for business on him.  Could be nonsense or could be true and given they did nothing with McKinney and Barkley I imagine it's more likely true than not.
Steelers also looked at Williams during off-season but he went to Jets.  Probably already more familiar with Williams.  Could also be a case of he is not going to trade a player just for the sake of getting something back.  2 years ago, he traded Toney for 2 picks a 3rd and a 6th, but there was an issue with him.  Last year, he traded Williams for a 2nd and a 6th.  Maybe he just doesn't see the value in adding a 6th-7th round pick?

Certainly possible.  But there's also value in taking a guy like that off the team.  Daboll refuses to play Hyatt so either Hyatt gets time and he flops causing the Giants to lose more games (good) or Hyatt gets some actual playing time with real passes being thrown his direction and he gains some valuable experience for the future (also good).  This of course assumes they aren't bringing him back as a FA.

I don't think that's really relevant.  Slayton's not likely to be with the team next year and Hyatt may or may not.  It's not about competitiveness this year, it's about positioning for the future, IMO.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

For fans it is.  Not sure if the HC feels that way.

He's 24.  Are we so sure we want to let him walk and keep Thibodeaux (23), who would get more in a trade and be more expensive to sign at the end of his rookie contract?
I'd consider trading Burns, too but his play this year and his contract makes him a less valuable trade chip.

He's missed 16 games over the last two seasons. If there's one thing Giants fans hate more than talented divas, it's unavailability. I'm not too sure there's much interest in extending him.

If the Giants were interested in extending him, they should have done it last summer when his stock was pretty much rock-bottom.

I agree on Ojulari but it seems like nobody here wants any of our drafted players resigned and just go for the cheaper option.

No way are Thibs or Burns getting traded.
