The more I see of Cam Ward the more I like.  Sanders probably has the most raw talent but there's definitely some baggage there.  Even still he's probably the 1st player taken.

I do agree though that they shouldn't just take a QB just because they need one.  That's what got them into the mess with Jones in the first place.  Had they waited a year they probably get Herbert.  If they just don't love these QBs and have to wait a year then so be it but that would mean the 2025 season looks an awful lot like this one has looked.

What exactly is the "baggage" with Sanders?

Deion has said that he doesn't want him to go to a cold weather team.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Sadly they can't wait. Their jobs are on the line. They will both be gone if they are bad next year and have no young QB. They choose a WR this past year instead of a QB who was rated higher than any of the prospects this year. Now they are in this predicament.

Imagine if they sign a mid-level FA QB, then use the first and second rounds to draft more top end talent.  Another WR, OT, DT, CB or TE.  Great options this year.

Nice if they had the luxury to have another mediocre to bad year. They don't. Or if the mid level QB turns into a revelation. Too risky. If Daboll gets fired after this season maybe. Otherwise it's QB or bust.

Quote from: Ed Vette on November 07, 2024, 02:00:15 PMI like Sanders QB play a lot. He's up there with Daniels and Calib.

Ed: Yeah, but he'd be a much scarier pick (for me) than Daniels. Anyway, as I think you will agree, he's not the type of guy the Giants like to pick, no matter how desperate they are. Great arm and could approach the Mahomes level... or just prove to be a real pain-in-the-butt. Great improvisational qualities, IMO better than Daniels. Rocket arm. Never-quit attitude (like his dad). Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Quote from: Ed Vette on November 07, 2024, 02:00:15 PMI need to do more work on Cam Ward. I have a friend who really likes him but I've only scouted one game earlier in the year. I like Sanders QB play a lot. He's up there with Daniels and Calib.

Here is the Walter Football writeup:

3. Miami image Cam Ward, QB, Miami
Height: 6-2. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 4.68.
Projected Round (2025): 1-3.
11/5/24: In 2024, Ward has completed 67 percent of his passes for 3,146 yards with 29 touchdowns and six interceptions. He has three rushing touchdowns as well. For the NFL, Ward looks like a potential starting quarterback. He has enough arm strength to stretch defenses vertically and can ad-lib his team into big plays. Ward has some running ability to buy time and hurt defenses with his ability to pick up yards on the ground. Like all college players, Ward has some things to work on for the NFL. He needs to get the ball out faster, as he has the habit of holding the ball too long. Ward puts a lot of pressure on his line by holding it for so long. Ward needs to speed up the process of reading defenses. Expanding his knowledge of coverages and fronts will help him to read faster.

I don't know if he's available or what he would cost but I would look at Malik Willis the backup QB for the Packers. I have seen him 2 times this year and been impressed. He was a bust for the Titans but looked good to me with the Packers and I would assume would want to be a starter. Some guys just take a while.

He also knew he needed more experience so he didn't declare last year and stayed another season. That's maturity.

I'm surprised Jaxson Dart isn't in that list. He should be on that list his numbers are very good. His average yards per completion is 11 yards. 3200 yards and 20-3 Touchdowns to interceptions. How is he not on the list.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on November 07, 2024, 05:28:38 PMI agree about Sanders. I'm quite high on him too.

I'm not high on any other QB at this time.

Put me in the "anyone but Sanders" camp. It has nothing to do with his father. He just holds the ball too long and can't maneuver in the pocket at all. Great arm and accuracy but he reminds me of David Carr.

Also, he has minus yards rushing in 3 of his 4 seasons, including minus-18 yards rushing for this year. He has taken an astonishing 135 sacks in college, and counting. He makes Tom Brady look mobile. I can't see Daboll wanting him.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you read is not what I meant - Robert McCloskey (if he were on this Forum)

You're comparing him to a moron who needed mommy's support. Btw, he graduated early. Let's see if Colorado gets a Bowl game and if he opts out. And don't believe the ten million dollar remark about staying another year. It was in jest. As for Daddy meddling, ask Eli about that.

I don't know is Sanders is good or not but would never make a calculation because his father had multiple Super Bowl rings. That is regressive thinking.
