Everyone is entitled to their opinion but it truly shocks me that there's some who still refuse to acknowledge how bad this organization has become.  The QB we know should be done here but after another horrible start at 2-8.  The coach and GM have done a good job?  There's a plan there somewhere?

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 10, 2024, 01:46:15 PMThis is an excellent point that I hadn't thought of.  No matter which side of the fire Daboll a person is, there seems no argument that Daboll's on the hot seat and his coaching hasn't been up to par.  So why let a HC on his last leg draft a new QB, when there is an excellent chance that pick with be forced on a new HC?
You and @Philosophers are automatically projecting a losing season NEXT YEAR and making a decision based on that meritless projection.

Quote from: T200 on November 10, 2024, 01:50:55 PMRespectfully, it doesn't matter. This situation is unique to the New York Giants. What other teams do and have done carry absolutely no weight when it comes to what the Giants (Schoen) need to do.

So are you advocating for the Giants giving their had coach with two consecutive bad seasons (don't forget the coaching rebellion last season) not one but two more seasons to prove himself?

Tim,

You don't have to assume a losing season. The points are valid if there is a good chance that another losing season exists.

Quote from: T200 on November 10, 2024, 01:30:25 PMI've said numerous times that Daboll will be the coach next season, with the caveat that he doesn't lose the team. I still stand by that.

Re: the flea-flicker... the play worked. Jones didn't pull the trigger. Daboll protected Jones with that statement.

Besides play calling (I admit it is not what I would like but it is not the worst and it is serviceable if that makes any sense)....my issue is Daboll "judgement"...allowing kids to go right back on the field after the dumbass flags....not changing QBs...not playing starters in preseason (this team didn't look halfway decent until game 3-4 for a couple years in a row)...putting explosive players like Hyatt in the doghouse and not offering any sort of reason why...his awful judgement with kickers!!!...twice we have lost games because of a preexisting injury to a kicker.

These things to me are questionable judgement issues. I'm sure there are more but it's what I can think of off the top of my head for reasons to support his firing

Quote from: Gmo11 on November 10, 2024, 01:34:08 PMYou can certainly justify firing everybody...but i wouldn't.  Schoen has actually been pretty good and Daboll hasn't had a real QB to run an offense.  Get the #1 pick, get that new QB, then watch what happens.  This team is poised to make some noise if they can just find SOMEBODY to run that offense.

But there AREN'T any SOMEBODIES in the upcoming draft!!! Nobody wants to accept that fact yet we keep hearing this same statement over and over.

The Giants' best move would be to get a bridge and draft for one in 2026 when the draft is expected to yield much better prospects.

Get the left tackle in April, and solidify that offensive line, and be surprised at the improvement that will yield.

The QB opportunity window isn't there until '26. If they can sign a free agent who can do what Kerry Collins did a quarter century ago, then that would be ideal for now.

None of the current QBs will be on the team next year so it will be different. But it makes no sense picking one in draft that isn't considered strong to begin with.

The Wilderness Years, Part Deux, continue on strong with no end in sight.

Peace!

Tim,

The flea flicker didn't really work because it didn't appear many of the front 7 Panters bit on the fake rush, they were on DJ way to fast for a play that is supposed to fool the defense

There's no such thing as a coaching rebellion last year. I understand that's what you term it as but it wasn't that at all.

Jones got six years and 3 coaches fired. I think Daboll should get a chance with a guy he chooses and not a dud he was forced to work with. If he fails with him, then fine.

And, he already proved himself in 2022. Coach of the Year, remember? What awards has Jones won??? 8))

Not true. He had plenty time to throw the ball. Plenty.

It didn't work because Jones didn't throw the ball to one of TWO WIDE OPEN receivers.

How exactly did Jones get Pat Schumer fired?  DJ had a solid rookie season.

I'm annoyed as hell right now with Daboll but the point you make here tells me maybe it's my raw emotion getting the best of me. Thank you

DJ had less than a second and had to pull the ball down or risk a fumble or INT by being hit in the act of throwing

You have absolutely zero idea that "there is a good chance that another losing season exists."

There is the draft and free agency that will turn over the roster in key places. There may be more coaching changes. You have absolutely no idea. No one does.

Speculate all you want but don't pass it off as a likelihood. No. One. Knows.

I would agree with this fully (IF the Giants were sellers at the trade deadline) where we would be in position to send a stockpile of picks for a QB.
