I think the end has come for him. Brutal showing against the worst D, on a world stage. He's been basically on a week by week prove it basis. He failed what should have been an easy test. Badly. Season is over. I think that was the last we see of jones.

I seriously hope so. But I have my doubts.  But if there was a time to do it, now is that time. Give Lock two weeks to prepare. It honestly can't be worse. At least Lock isn't afraid to stretch the field and take shots. I think Jones plays until the plays until they are eliminated though

I would not be one bit surprised if Lock starts vs the Bucs. As I mentioned in another thread I would also like to see Kafka back at calling the plays and Hyatt playing regularly.

The only reason I can see for Schoen and Daboll continuing to start Daniel Jones is that he is a lightning rod for criticism and will keep everyone focused on the quarterback and not the lousy jobs they themselves have been doing.

I will be beyond shocked if Jones starts the next game. The amount of ridicule and mockery that this franchise is getting now is already bad. But it's absolutely nothing compared to what it will get if they play Jones and then he gets seriously hurt and triggers the injury clause. Mara will become maybe the biggest laughingstock owner in professional sports if that happens. I'm not kidding nor am I deliberately exaggerating here. That would be the height of incompetence and humiliation if that happened. I have to think he can see that now or at least that someone he trusts will explain it to him in very plain language.

Not a chance in hell this can be accurate. This isn't a soap opera it's a professional sports franchise. These guys have the largest egos in the world. They wanna win period.

That suggestion was made to promote yet another false narrative.  As you stated, there's not a chance in hell that's the reason to continue to start DJ.

I predicted weeks ago the bye week was the most likely time to make the switch. I will stick with that prediction, but acknowledge it's 60/40 at best.

Unfortunately, now the entire situation is a mess.  Once you bench him that's it.  There would be no reason for him to start another game the rest of the way.  He is relegated to the sideline and makes a nightmare even more uncomfortable.  That's what they did here by riding this broken train for too long.

Not an issue just not a great situation to close out the season either way.

What if he rides the bench and then needs to come in due to injury and somehow plays half way decent?

1. Will people here say he deserves another shot since he was coming off a major injury?

2. If he plays well late in year when there is no other option for some reason would there be a willing trade partner?

And that may just be the organization's biggest problem.  They wanna win means that they do things that may be helpful in the short term but harmful in the long term.  There's a pretty big gap between "I want to win the next game" and "I want to have a winning organization".  In a way the draft creates some perverse incentives that play into this. 

Crazy idea.  Split the teams into 4 cohorts based on record.  Then have some kind of lottery to establish draft order within each cohort a la the NBA.  They could do some weighting within the lottery, say give the worst record 8 chances, next worst 7 chances, etc. 

If nothing else it woulg give the NFL one or more big TV events between the end of the season and the draft.

It's unfortunately a New York sports thing where they insist fans won't stand for an extended rebuild.  Then they end up sucking for a decade or more when they could've been on a different road five years before.  It took the Knicks 20 friggin years.
