8 the QBs are also top ten in pass attempts this season. You throw it more, you're going to get hit more (same as I've mentioned for drops). Certainly isn't stopping some of the QBs on this list from being successful, as they're many of the top passers in the league... The exceptions being Caleb Williams and our own Danny Boy.

Means nothing because he also holds the ball too long and doesn't read defenses so ultimately it's his own fault because our Oline has consistently given him time - even WITHOUT our All-Pro Tackle out.

I think, sadly, we've reached the trolling phase. Hate to see it. :(

So DJ and CJ Stroud are tied for 1st in getting hit yet Houston is ranked 9th in passing based on yards and has 7.2 yards oer attempt vs Giants are ranked 20th and are only 5.9 yards per attempt.

I think this sums up the problem succinctly.  They have nearly identical pass completion % yet Stroud still manages to push ball downfield farther.

Stroud was elite last season.  This season he has been mediocre this season.   Shows how detrimental those hits are.

They are 6-4 and leading the division, despite losing their top 2 WRs, and Mixon missing a few games early on.

If support matters for DJ, it matters for all QBs.

Bengals have the 6th highest scoring offense, so they have no trouble producing despite also having a few injuries to Moss and Higgins.

Atlanta is 6-4 as well, also leading the division

Mahomes is undefeated, Herberts squad is doing well for themselves with the passing game coming to life at 6-3.

Stafford has spent most of this season without Kupp and Puka, again, support matters if it does for Jones, and they are still 4-5 to our 2-8, also scoring more points. Jets are awful, while I will give you the Jets, they have one more win and more points scored.

Caleb is a rookie, but again, more wins and points than Jones.

The Seahawks are the only team on this list I can maybe agree is affected by the pressure.

Jones has a #1 WR, plenty of support, more than some of these other guys, yet he is dead last in overall production, despite as much. He missed Nabers a few games, but missing weapons hasnt stopped any of these other QBs from having more success. This is not why DJ is playing bad.

I didn't think you were sold on Stroud last season - I seem to remember you arguing that his production was down more to his environment rather than being 'elite'?

Ed,

I literally shook my head when you said I have to argue that product is dependent on support (at this point, that should be a given on this forum, like it is in the NFL).   Worse, because I need to remind people of the importance of that support, you guys misinterpret that to mean I don't like a particular QB.   The problem was people were incorrectly claiming CJ Stroud alone turned around the Texans, and that isn't true.

You seem to be a bit all over the place, and I don't think you can assign wins to QBs, like you do.

The point is, as Coughlin has stated, hits and sacks have a negative impact on every QB's performance.  When you have a QB who has been battered his entire career and is having confidence issues, the last thing you should be doing is subjecting him to the most hits in the NFL.  That's a surefire way to ensure your QB stays broken (not that after how badly they screwed this young man up, there were any assurances he will ever get right).

Can you explain what point you are trying to convey with this post? Are you saying this is the reason for Daniel Jones being the WORST QB in the NFL?

What is the point of this question?  Are you suggesting that DJ hasn't suffered any sort of negative impact physically and mentally from being one of the most beaten-on QBs in the league (during his career)?

Do you honestly believe that Coughlin was wrong when he said heavily rushing, hitting, and sacking a QB will have a detrimental impact on his performance (even with greats like Tom Brady?

I am not all over the place just because we have differing opinions, I went through the QBs listed, as some context was missing. Jones is the only broken QB on this list, you can argue Rodgers, but then its a fossil past his prime, vs a guy who should be in his best years in his mid 20s with the best support he has ever had.

What is the point of comparing non-battered QBs with one, if not the most battered QBs in the league?  Jones is broken; the confidence he regained in 2022 and in 2023 prior to the beating he sustained in the Dallas opener is gone.  You have a QB who is seeing ghosts, has PTSD, has the yips, has lost his confidence, whatever you want to call it.  I am not sure what you are arguing against this, as the man clearly isn't the confident (but turnover-prone gunslinger) we saw his rookie season or the second half of 2022.  He's a shell of a man; the beatings have taken their toll.

Tom Coughlin was talking about Tom Brady and the 2007 Super Bowl.   The quote was- "... there's not a quarterback alive whose performance doesn't suffer when they are hit hard and hit often"

Another quote-  "Brady's as tough as they come, but if you knock any quarterback down repeatedly, he starts to wear down and expect it, and when a quarterback is looking for where the next hit is coming from, that throws off everything."

If there is no point comparing a broken QB to non broken ones, what is the point of the thread, as another user already asked then?
